1.) Knee-Knocker – a high step

2.) Midrats – midnight rations

3.) "Dogging the door/hatch" – closing and locking a door, especially during General Quarters

4.) Ladder – stairs

5.) Sick Bay – hospital

6.) Galley – the kitchen

7.) Head – the bathroom (the term comes from old sailing days when sailors did their business on their ship's bow and hoped a wave would wash it overboard)

8.) Brig – the jail

8.) CV – cruiser voler (French word for "to fly")/aircraft carrier

9.) Hangar Bay – area of the ship where planes are stored and worked on

10.) Flight Deck – area of the ship where planes take off and land

11.) Ready Room – meeting space for pilots before a mission

12.) Berthing – the area of the ship where sailors sleep

13.) Mess Hall – where sailors eat

14.) Scuttlebutt – gossip by the water fountain

15.) General Quarters - To Battle Stations!
