Chapter 1 - The Day That Started It All

"Mom, look I caught a white bird" said a young boy to his beloved mother

"Woow, that's a really beautiful bird, Father would have been proud" said a mother to her beloved son

Both loved each other (as a family of course), and lived happily in the outskirts of the capital of the kingdom.

They weren't necessarily poor, but have gone through some dark days.

The bird which the young boy had caught was indeed beautiful, but was it really a good thing to do?

Such an innocent boy didn't know that killing a bird might anger it's mother, father, son, daughter, or anyone it's related to.

But that wasn't the case for birds is it?

It's just a bird.

Now that's where you are wrong. It is not just a bird.

It is a living thing, the pain that it gained when you captured it was nothing comparable to the ones who love it.

The young boy. The young innocent boy will understand what this exact scenario meant.

knock knock

"Excuse me madam, the duke has came to make an announcement" said one of the knights who was stationed there.

This was rather a common occurrence for the boy.

The boy like every other time held his mother's hand and walked her to the gathering which was slowly being more and more crowded.

"Hello my fellow commoners, I am proud to tell you one the delegates of the King has come here to tell you about the new circumstances for the war." said the duke who in the eyes of the boy looked weird.

A strange person wearing all gold and with a face not recallable held a big scroll with little to no words.

"My loyal subjects of Granfalls, word has reached my court of your valiant efforts in the face of this grave threat. Though you have borne much hardship, the enemy remains strong. To ensure our victory, I decree the following:

Every able-bodied man shall join our forces immediately. Those unable to fight shall redouble their efforts to support the war. Increased production of arms, food, and supplies is paramount."

Such a harsh predicament was indeed near impossible for the villagers.

They have already lost many men in the war, but now they want more?

They have gave all they had including the money they should receive as blood money, and now they want more?

"Hey delegator? delegatator? whatever, yo this can't be done, WE have already given everything we had, many have lost their husbands, and many their fathers. WE can't go on like this." said a very brave men, perhaps his sin was saying the following words.

soon, a strange yet known thing flew from the back of said men.

drop drop drop

The sound of dropping blood etched through the silence.

The men was not shocked for the fact he was dying. No. He was shocked for the fact he was dying by the people who he sacrificed his father and his mother's golden earrings for.

"Let it be known that defiance of his authority shall not be tolerated. Those who dare to disobey his commands will face the full weight of his justice." said the person who eerily calm for what he had done.

No one was able to speak at that very moment, so the duke had taken his chance and went towards the mom and son.

"I heard you are great at making good armors" said the duke with a grin

"Y-Yes my lord" said the petrified mother

"So from now on you better make twice as much" said the duke, he still had a grin but for some reasons it looked as if he was plotting something.

"My lord I beg of you to make it easier for us, I still have a young child here who I have to raise, and the number you ask for is simply huge for me, alone to complete." This time the mother said in a respectful manner the reason she wasn't able to do what has asked.

Instead of thinking, the duke just grinned, and came a bit closer the the mom and whispered to her ears, something which no one could tell.

The mother immediately flinched at what he had said to her, and took the boy's hand and had left the scene without an answer.

The boy looked back to see the man who was still breathing but slowly dying and also the duke who instead of grinning was angry? Why was he angry?

Soon the mother came inside the house and locked the door, and closed the curtains, just to tell the young boy that he has to go and find some bandages from his aunt Jenny, and gave him a letter to give to his aunt as well.

So he followed her orders, with the letter the young fellow slowly walked towards the house, with a tense face which had never before.

Indeed the boy had just seen a horrific scene out of nowhere, but he had also seen his mother petrified. But he had to do his mother's work, right?

So he went to his aunts house, who had also became a widow, but had no son nor daughter.

The young son gave the letter to the aunt.

And he gave the letter.

He gave the letter.

The aunt. started crying.

Why was aunt Jenny crying? Last time he had seen her was when she was singlehandedly beating a robber up.

What could have been said in the letter.

"Aunt why are you crying?" said the young boy

"oh poor soul, what have you done to this world to deserve this?" said the aunt still crying

The young boy thought she was referring to the men who had been shot by the arrow.

Soon he had gotten his bandages and had tried to leave, but his aunt had caught him.

"Kid, after you are done come over to this house, let me tell you a very cool story." said the aunt.

Although the words seemed nice, the boy couldn't help but feel sadness and eagerness from it as well.

The young boy went and treated the fallen men, with a greeting and something which the young boy had already forgotten about rushed to his aunts place.

The aunt had already finished three story books, but kept on reading for him.

At this point even a toddler would have gotten bored thought the son, so when the aunt was going to the bathroom, he quietly left the house thinking that this was the most respectful way of leaving, if she wasn't allowing him to leave.

The young, not that innocent boy was thinking about the delicious food his mother was going to cook for him and went inside this house.

The delicious food.

Was not there.

It was his mother who was stripped na*ed on her bed with a scar on her neck.

The comforting house suddenly felt suffocating.

The young, not innocent. boy went towards his sleeping mother and shook her a bit.

"Mom?" said the boy

Why did mom suddenly have so many injuries, and had coconut water all over her?

"Mom?"

"MOM"

"MOOOOOM"

"MOOOOOOOOOOM"

The louder he screamed, the louder got his heartbeat.

The young boy, was comforting himself telling himself that his mother was only sleeping.

Soon his aunt came barging through the door, and stopped in her tracks.

She then came closer and hugged the young boy who was still screaming Mom.

"It's ok, she didn't lose you" said the Aunt

I. never. asked. not. be. lost.

This was the story of a boy when he was 6.
