Dear [Classified],
I am Dr. Shelton from the CDC, and by the time you receive this email, our country and perhaps the entire world may already be in chaos.
Before [Classified], we submitted a report on the Prion-20 virus (P Virus) to the [Classified] department. Unfortunately, the report did not receive the attention it deserved from the [Classified] department.
Even before [Classified], when the first case of the P Virus appeared in Northern California, our department had already started research into P Virus and its potential aftermath.
Based on the reports submitted by the [Classified] lab, we have made the following estimates regarding the effects of the P Virus and its long-term consequences.
I will try my best to explain the issue in a simple manner.
First, unlike other prions, the P Virus is larger in size, and it can trigger immune responses in the body. This means that there are a number of "lucky" individuals who may produce antibodies against the virus.
Secondly, compared to conventional prions that completely destroy the human central nervous system, the P Virus presents a dangerous form of control.
The P Virus has the ability to take full control of the human central nervous system, effectively taking over a person's behavior and driving them to madness, attacking other living beings.
This aggressive behavior is not necessarily for the virus to propagate. The P Virus, much like other prions, does not contain nucleic acids; instead, it replicates itself through its protein structure.
Furthermore, the P Virus, via [Classified], can block the brain's nervous signals from instructing body tissues.
To put it simply, individuals infected by the P Virus lose control over their own actions, even though they may remain fully conscious.
For example, Subject D-01, after complete infection with the P Virus, had a highly active state of consciousness in the brain's cortical areas, yet their behavior was uncontrollably violent.
Research shows that the P Virus only affects humans; it does not infect animals, plants, or other organic life forms outside of humans.
Additionally, the P Virus has a long "latent period" of up to six months after entering the human body. During this time, the virus remains dormant, and the infected individual will show no symptoms or signs of illness.
Once the virus concentration reaches [Classified], the virus inside the body will awaken, and within 24 to 168 hours, it will fully take over the individual's central nervous system.
Almost all subjects show a significant increase in physical capabilities after being infected with the P Virus. We believe this improvement is a result of the body's self-protection mechanisms being removed.
Of course, this means the enhancement effect is dependent on the subject's physical condition before being infected.
The good news is, as mentioned earlier, a significant portion of infected individuals develop antibodies against the P Virus.
In two controlled trials conducted in [Classified], we found that after producing antibodies, Subject A was re-infected with the P Virus, but the virus inside the body was eradicated by the antibodies.
The antibodies were effective during both stages of the virus' mutation, but since the observation period was too short, we cannot rule out the possibility that the antibodies may not be effective after the second stage of mutation.
Additionally, vaccines produced during the large-scale outbreak of the P Virus have been confirmed to be ineffective by the [Classified] department located in [Classified]. For infected individuals with a virus concentration reaching [Classified], the vaccine actually accelerates viral mutation, creating an entirely new variant.
Since the [Classified] department has been completely destroyed, we have temporarily named this new variant "P Biotech."
Finally, we hope that your department can contact the [Classified] department. We suspect that the emergence and large-scale spread of the P Virus may be linked to biological weapons research conducted by [Classified].
