Chapter 12 - Dangerous strategy

The morning sun rose and the rays flickered into the room and shone brightly into the eyes of Ethan Jones, causing him to wake up from his sleep and get off the bed. He glanced around the place but his mum was nowhere to be found, which he found normal because she works at the hospital.

Images of yesterday with Jonathan flashed back and darkened his emotions as he made his way into the bathroom to prepare for school. Few minutes later he exited the bathroom fully dressed in his faded black cloth and trousers.

Ethan picked up his bag and made his way downstairs

Ethan Jones wondered in his thoughts if it was safe to go to school today for a few minutes before making his way into the kitchen to have breakfast, and in a few minutes time he was on his way to the bus station.

He boarded a public bus that took him straight to the school he attends. Ethan Jones straightened his clothes before walking into the building.

Upon entering the building, the students began to shoot him with hateful glares and suspicious looks. Ethan Jones buried his head down and walked to his post.

He sat behind his table and began to read for his pending tests. His table was filled with different books that he was reading.

While Ethan was busy with work, a long shadow was casted above him as a lady approached him while cat walking.

"Good morning, Ethan." The lady known as Zoey Blair greeted with a smile.

Hearing the words of the lady, Ethan lifted his head and responded. "Good morning." But unlike before, Ethan didn't have a smile on his face which made Zoey Blair worried a bit.

"Is everything okay?" Zoey inquired with a worrisome look.

"Uhm..yeah, everything is good. Why did you ask?" Ethan responded, trying his best to hide his saddened expression because he didn't want to worry his school crush with his issues.

"Are you sure? You are kinda cold and timid today, are you sure everything is okay?" Zoey inquired, feeling worried for her friend.

"Yeah, everything is okay, don't worry. I just have a lot on my mind right now. You know I am trying to read and pass my upcoming tests, I just need you to pray for me to pass." Ethan explained with a forced smile.

"If you say you are good then no problem." Zoey Blair smiled in relief. "And you really don't have to be worried about the test because you will pass and that's because you're smart." She added.

"Thank you, Harper." Ethan smiled back before moving his gaze back to the paperwork on his desk.

"I am about to head out for breakfast, do you want to come? My treat." Zoey Blair offered with looks of anticipation.

"Oh, sorry. I already ate something back home and I really need to finish my reading as soon as possible." Ethan Jones declined.

Hearing the words of Ethan, Zoey Blair cheeks flushed.

"Okay, no problem." Harper muttered disheartedly. "By the way, Mr Hendrix asked you. He should be in his office right now,"she said.

"I see. Thanks for the info." Ethan nodded and Zoey Blair smiled before walking away.

Ethan resumed his work on his desk. After an hour of reading, he was finally done.

Ethan made his way to see Mr Hendrix at his office.

Ethan got into the elevator and it took him to the top floor where Mr Hendrix office was located. The elevator chimed and the doors slid open, allowing Ethan Jones to step out and made his way towards the office meters away.

Ethan as he made his way to Mr Hendrix office, his footsteps echoing softly in the quiet corridors. With each passing moment, the weight of anticipation grew heavier upon his shoulders, as he braced himself for the meeting that awaited him in Mr. Hendrix's office.

As Ethan reached the familiar threshold of the office, he paused for a brief moment to collect his thoughts, his heart racing with a mixture of anxiety and anticipation.

With a steadying breath, he raised his hand and knocked softly on the door, the sound reverberating through the hushed atmosphere of the corridor.

"Come in," came the measured voice of Mr. Hendrix from within, prompting Ethan to push open the door and step into the office.

The office was bathed in soft light, casting a warm glow over the sleek furnishings and polished surfaces. Mr. Hendrix sat behind his desk, his expression inscrutable as he regarded Ethan with a keen gaze.

"Ethan," he greeted, his tone neutral yet tinged with a hint of curiosity. "Thank you for coming. Please, have a seat."he said.

With a nod of acknowledgment, Ethan crossed the room and settled into the chair opposite Mr. Hendrix, his senses heightened as he awaited the purpose of their meeting.

"I wanted to speak with you about something," Mr. Hendrix began, his voice measured as he leaned forward slightly, his eyes locking with Ethan's. "There have been some developments in the investigation into the bot theft, which made your friend Jonathan to be taken by Bex bots cons and I believe you may have information that could prove valuable,"Mr Hendrix said.

Ethan's pulse quickened at the mention of the bot theft, his mind racing with the implications of Mr. Hendrix's words.

He knew that the truth behind the theft remained shrouded in mystery, and that his own involvement in the events that had transpired could not be ignored.

As Mr. Hendrix continued to speak, Ethan listened intently, his thoughts racing as he grappled with the weight of the information being presented to him.

With each passing moment, the gravity of the situation became increasingly clear, and Ethan knew that the choices he made in the days ahead would shape the course of his future in ways he could scarcely imagine.

As Mr. Hendrix broached the topic of the stolen bot, Ethan Jones felt a surge of anxiety coursing through him, his heart racing with the weight of the revelation.

"Ethan Jones, I ask again, do you know anything about the internal bot...did you steal it?"Mr Hendrix asked.

The gravity of Mr. Hendrix's inquiry hung heavy in the air, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the room as Ethan grappled with the decision looming before him.
