Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

The man in white's aura was flooded with powerful and domineering Nen energy fluctuations.

At the same time, the opponent took out a weapon—a brass knuckle.

This weapon was most likely used for close combat. Among all Nen types, only two are known to excel in close combat: Enhancers and Transmuters.

Even Emitters rarely choose Nen abilities focused on close combat.

After all, who would want to rush in close to their enemy when they could kill from a distance?

The man in white's statement wasn't wrong. As long as they kept a safe distance, Rocky wouldn't be able to control the Sword of the Wise King to kill these people.

Watching his subordinates move quickly past him, the man in white smiled.

"Sure enough, once the distance is widened, your ability from earlier becomes useless, right?"

"Go and intercept the Kuruta tribe members. I'll deal with this kid!"

Under the command of the man in white, the others quickly ran toward the distance.

In that moment, Rocky wanted to intercept them, making sure not a single one of them escaped. But before he could act, the opponent's right hand, equipped with brass knuckles, suddenly threw a punch at him.

A crackling sound echoed as the shockwave swept through the air. Rocky quickly dodged, and when he did, a large tree behind him collapsed.

Rocky frowned as he observed the fallen tree.

Looking back at the man in white, it was clear he also had long-range capabilities!

Even an Enhancer Nen user can develop long-range attacks.

With the sheer power of this attack!

Rocky glanced at the broken tree. If he had been hit by that punch, his current self would not have been able to withstand it. Even with his Ken activated, it would have been difficult.

"Boy, you still want to attack my men while I'm here?"

"Kill me first!"

The man glanced at his watch and added, "But you don't have much time. It won't take long for my men to catch up with your people. Just a few minutes is enough!"

"In other words, you have only one or two minutes to deal with me!"

Before the man in white could finish, he suddenly sensed a powerful killing intent coming from behind him.

He noticed the black smoke rising, followed by a flash of silver-white light.

Without hesitation, he immediately enveloped his entire body with Nen.

The blade cut through the air, and sparks erupted from his neck.

A shallow wound appeared.

The instant appearance of Rocky startled the man in white. Instinctively, he launched a fast counterattack, using his elbow to strike Rocky hard.

His movements were swift, and he seemed like a professional fighter, almost like a Sanda athlete. Even when attacked, his reflexes had him retaliating immediately.

Rocky quickly dodged, barely avoiding the hit.

He hadn't even had time to complete his attack. He only managed to leave a small cut, about five centimeters long, on the man's neck before disappearing.

Rocky reappeared at his original position, his Sword of the Wise King back in hand.

The man in white covered his neck with his hand, looking at the blood on his palm.

The wound wasn't deep, just a surface cut—no more than half a centimeter deep.

"What a weird ability! I almost died just now!"

Despite the shallow wound, the man in white ignored the injury. His eyes locked onto Rocky, clearly impressed.

It was obvious that Rocky's combat experience was much stronger than the other Nen users he had faced.

He stared at Rocky, saying, "Too bad, your attack power is too weak. If it were stronger, I would've been dead just now."

Rocky tightly gripped the Sword of the Wise King. It was indeed a pity. If only he had had more time to practice.

If he had been given another month, Rocky was confident that he could've killed the man with that strike.

But time was the issue. No matter how talented he was, without more time to train, his strength wouldn't improve quickly.

"You seem to be a Conjurer!" the man in white observed.

Rocky's opponent then saw him pulling out a sword. The weapon wasn't something Rocky's opponent had seen him carry before, which meant it had likely been materialized using his Nen ability.

"A Conjurer with such a weapon," the man in white muttered as he frowned, remembering the earlier flash of light.

Rocky's ability was indeed complex.

Teleportation? Possibly, but was it really that simple to use? It shouldn't be possible to use such an ability so easily.

Normally, such abilities would be difficult to use regularly and could only work in specific conditions.

The man in white took a large step and rushed toward Rocky with incredible speed.

While not as fast as Uvogin, the burst of speed was impressive.

Rocky originally planned to dodge but then heard the man's excited roar: "Your ability only works in a fixed area!"

"If you're pushed out of that area, your ability becomes useless!"

The man reached Rocky and grabbed him by the shoulders, using his momentum to slam him to the ground. In just a few seconds, they had covered a distance of over ten meters.

Pressing Rocky into the ground, the man raised his right fist, now reinforced with brass knuckles, aiming to punch Rocky in the stomach.

Crack!!

A punch landed, and the ground beneath them was shattered. The force of the punch dug several centimeters deep into the ground before exploding.

For a moment, the man in white was stunned, looking at the shattered earth and the white crystals scattered around.

"Your guess is half right!"

Rocky's voice suddenly rang out.

"My ability works within a certain range, but it's centered on me—and the range is much farther than you think!"

Rocky's flashing ability could reach up to about 100 meters at its limit.

Then a sharp snap echoed through the air, like glass breaking.

Rocky froze.

As he threw the Sword of the Wise King, he only intended to use his Phantom Shift to enhance the impact and inflict injuries the opponent.

But the moment the sword left his hand, it turned into a crystal-like state, though the shape remained the same.

The crystal sword pierced straight through the man's chest.

Though no visible wound appeared, the blood mist exploded from his body.

The man in white's eyes widened in shock. His empty gaze stared ahead as he collapsed.

A little brat … had killed him?
