Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

"The ability of this sword is mainly used for long-range attacks!"

"Performing specific actions can release telekinetic bullets to attack the enemy!"

After listening to Rocky's explanation, the chief stroked his beard.

"Hmm!!"

How should he put it?

From the chief's perspective, this ability wasn't exactly impressive.

Rocky, a Conjurer, had developed an attack method from the Emitter system!

Even from the Nen system distribution map, it was clear that the Emitter system is the weakest in terms of materialization.

Given that, developing an Emitter ability seemed to invite trouble!

And even if Rocky attempted to strengthen the Emitter power, it would likely be difficult.

Even if he fully mastered it, the power of an Emitter would only reach about 40% of its potential.

While Rocky's first ability could potentially result in an unexpected kill, the new ability seemed almost useless.

Considering the power of a Conjurer, an Emitter's attack would likely be weak and slow.

It would be better if Rocky could perform two apparitions at once.

Besides, releasing such an attack consumed a lot of Nen, making it inefficient.

"Well! This ability is not bad!"

Despite his reservations, the chief acknowledged that Rocky's new ability could serve a purpose.

If the goal was to enhance Rocky's long-range combat capabilities, the ability still had merit.

Even if it was more of a bluff, enemies might hesitate to be struck by a seemingly random attack. In Nen battles, one can never know if an opponent's next move will have a hidden, dangerous effect.

The chief realized that while Rocky's ability might seem futile from the perspective of an ability user, it could still be useful in certain situations.

Rocky's apparition ability—used as a feint—could delay opponents, making it easier for him to survive or escape.

"But what I didn't expect is that you, little brat, are really amazing!"

The chief suddenly smiled, eyeing Rocky.

"You've already begun using abilities from other Nen systems to improve your Conjurer skills. That's impressive!"

"Hahaha!"

The chief laughed heartily, impressed by Rocky's intuitive talent. Without formal guidance, Rocky had instinctively combined abilities from different Nen categories.

"Okay! The next step is to start practicing different Nen systems!"

"As a Conjurer, the best move is to first train in Manipulator abilities!"

Among the Nen systems, Transmuter abilities give the greatest enhancement to Conjurer powers, with potential to reach 80% efficiency.

So the chief was certain that practicing this system would be a crucial next step.

Rocky also had ideas for developing a third weapon, but that could wait.

For now, he needed to focus on refining abilities in the four core Nen systems: Manipulator, Enhancer, Transmuter, and Emitter.

The most important thing, however, was to increase his Nen capacity.

Abilities were a means to harness Nen to their full potential. It would be foolish to prioritize new powers without first building a strong Nen foundation.

"Alright! Grandpa Chief, it's time to practice the different Nen systems!"

"Okay! Okay! But first, head home! Grandpa's prepared a lot of delicious food for you. You need to eat well—your body is still developing, so you need to maintain your nutrition!"

Rocky nodded in agreement. At eight years old, he needed to eat more to ensure his body and mind developed properly.

After ten days of intense practice, he hadn't had proper sleep.

Most of his rest time had been spent meditating or recuperating during training, so it hadn't been true sleep.

After eating, Rocky—exhausted—fell asleep immediately.

He didn't wake up until the next morning, and after a hearty breakfast, he began his first formal practice: Conjurer training.

The Conjurer training methods in this world were slightly different from those in the original.

In the original, one would practice by running through the forest, dodging obstacles, while shaping their Nen into a specific form on their hand.

But in this case, the chief asked Rocky to simultaneously shape his Nen into different forms using at least four fingers.

To start, he practiced with the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4, changing them into various shapes within three seconds.

After only a few hours of practice, Rocky could easily change the numbers with his mind, impressing the chief with his rapid progress.

However, Rocky wasn't satisfied with just that. He decided to challenge himself and used all ten fingers.

This significantly increased the difficulty.

At first, the chief practiced alongside him, but as Rocky's progress became increasingly visible, he worried that continuing might demotivate him. So, the chief left him to practice alone.

On the way back, the chief shook his head, muttering to himself, "Basic Conjurer training completed in one morning. This abnormal talent is terrifying!"

As he walked, he heard rustling from the bushes. Frowning, the chief glanced over.

"It's those two little brats!"

Shaking his head, he didn't ask any more questions.

When the chief left, two small figures emerged from the bushes.

"The chief is gone!"

"He was just here! Let's go see what's over there!"

One of the children smiled and nodded.

"Let's go!"

The two kids ran in the direction the chief had come from. Soon, they found Rocky sitting under a tree, counting his fingers.

"That's the little kid!" one of them said.

"Yeah! About ten days ago, the chief had a lot of people searching for him!" the other added.

"He's the one who got lost! What's his name?"

"Rocky! That's his name."

"It seems his parents died long ago, and he only has an uncle now. The chief is taking care of him."

One of the children felt a pang of sympathy for Rocky.

"He lost his parents at such a young age and now he's here alone, playing with his fingers. He doesn't even have any friends to play with."

"Why don't we ask him to play with us?"

The other child smiled. "Okay!"
