Chapter 6 - Chapter 6. The ceremony

The evening drew faster than expected. The royal house glittered with chandeliers, lights, and the soft music made it more enjoyable.

The twin Alphas were holding their pack anniversary, and as expected, Alphas from different packs showed up.

"Alpha Edgar, it's a good thing to see you," one of the Alphas greeted as they entered.

Alpha Edgar welcomed the guests, while Alpha Draco talked with the guests and other Alpha.

"I'm delighted to have you here," Alpha Draco said as the maids served the guests.

In the kitchen, Lady Mira and Pearl were busy preparing food when a guard hurriedly entered, seeking Lady Mira's attention. Consequently, Lady Mira walked out, leaving Pearl alone in the kitchen.

Sitting at the counter, Pearl stared at the food heating up.

"I really do wish I could disappear from this place," she murmured, standing and exiting the kitchen.

"Where are you going?" Scarlett appeared out of nowhere and stood in front of her.

"I want to use the bathroom. Do you need anything?" Pearl inquired, and Scarlett shook her head with a smile.

"Not at all," she replied, making way as Pearl walked out.

Scarlett left the house to meet the guests.

"Father!" she called, rushing to meet her father, Alpha Washington.

"My beautiful daughter, how have you been?" he asked as she sat beside him.

"I'm good. You should know the Alphas are taking care of me perfectly," she said, smiling, and her father chuckled heartily.

"I'm pleased to hear that," he replied with a nod.

Alpha Edgar joined them later on. They began discussing their future, the pack, and strategies to tackle the rogue threat.

"Alpha Edgar, you remind me of your father. A very smart, intelligent one," he said, and Alpha Edgar glared at him.

"I should take that as a compliment, right?" he narrowed his eyebrows, and Alpha Washington nodded.

"So, tell me. Is there anything going on between you and my daughter? She has been staying here for months now," he inquired, and other Alphas began whispering.

"Yes, I do hope," Alpha Draco replied.

One of the guests began coughing, another joined, and almost immediately, everyone started coughing out blood.

"What have you done to us? Arghh!"

"How could you do this to us!"

Different cries and growls from Alphas filled the air. Alpha Edgar and Draco were shocked, unable to comprehend what was happening.

"What happened?" Edgar asked, and Alpha Washington scoffed.

"Are you playing innocent now!? You have no idea what happened to these Alphas! You need to have answers to what's happening!"

"Get the Royal physician!" Edgar ordered, and the guards rushed out.

"Easy, Father. We should investigate the cooks instead of accusing the Alphas," Scarlett suggested, and Draco nodded.

"Get the cooks! And where on earth is that woman!" Edgar raised his voice.

"Here I am, your Majesty," she said, walking in.

"Check everyone who has the flu," he instructed, and the royal physician began doing as told.

Not long after, the guards dragged the maids in.

Bodies shivering, eyes fixed on the floor, heartbeats increasing wildly, and thoughts of getting killed filled each and every one of them.

"What happened to the food?" Alpha Edgar demanded, extending his claws.

The maids gasped, feeling scared.

"Spare our lives, Alpha Edgar!" They cried, hitting their hands on the floor.

"You think that's gonna save you?" Edgar's eye color changed.

He swiftly pushed one to the wall, dug his claws into her neck, and pulled out her throat.

He turned to face others who were terrified, their bodies shivering.

"It was Pearl!" one of the maids said, and Pearl's jaw dropped.

"What!? How can you say such a thing?" She said, staring at the maid.

"Please, just tell the truth already!" The maid started crying out loud.

"Well, well, well. What do you have to say about that!" Alpha Washington said and slapped her cheek twice. Pearl fell on her butt.

"Alpha Washington!" Edgar growled. "Do not touch my subordinate in my presence. This is not your pack!" He snarled, and he scoffed.

"Arrest her," Alpha Draco said, and Edgar turned to him.

"How on earth do you think she would possibly do something like that?" Edgar asked, and Draco glared at him.

"Someone testified against her, can't you see, brother?" He said in a husky voice.

"We will carry out a proper investigation, and if found guilty, she would be beheaded," he said and turned to face Pearl, who was already tearing up.

"But I didn't do it!.. I can't do such a thing!" She cried out.

She crawled and held Draco's leg, still crying her heart out. "Please, please…" she begged him, but Draco didn't get touched by her tears.

He kicked her away, and she winced softly.

"What are you waiting for!? Take her away!" He commanded, and the guards forcefully dragged Pearl away while she kept screaming out loud.

"Very well, what happens now?" Alpha Washington asked, watching that some of the Alphas were taken out of the place, with the help of some guards.

"We will investigate, and we are truly sorry about what happened!" Draco said and bowed, leaving.

Alpha Edgar went after him. He sped to him, and just when he wanted to pounce on him, Draco swiftly turned, catching his hands in the air.

"What is this all about?"

"You know very well, Pearl is innocent. Why did you get her arrested?" He snapped, and Draco smirked.

"Why are you bothered about that? Do you perhaps have feelings for that low-born?" He asked, and Edgar gave him a punch, which sent him away.

He eventually hit his back on the wall, and it cracked.

"Shut your mouth! You have sex with her every night and day, and now she's a low-born? If you know she isn't worthy to be our mate, why then have your dick inside her!" He yelled, and Draco sped to him.

He punched him twice, sending him away.

"I can have my way in any fucking person in this pack!. I am Alpha and she…"

He paused and walked closer to Alpha Edgar.

"She's just a low born, a piece of thrash!" He said and walked out.

After Draco left, Edgar stood up and spotted Scarlett eavesdropping.

"I bet you knew that pearl is our mate," he said, and Scarlett appeared.

"Of course, but I'm not bothered. You all rejected her!" Scarlett replied after a pause.

"Aren't you afraid we might find her interesting one day?" he asked, and Scarlett chuckled.

"Why? I trust you wouldn't want the pack to see you as a weak Alpha settling for an omega, especially a rogue!" she raised her voice, and Edgar sarcastically chuckled.

"Really? Tell me about your mother. I heard she was a slave in your father's pack!" he raised a brow.

"Rumors aren't always true!" Scarlett cleared her throat and stepped back. "Excuse me," she said and left.
