"Honestly, Sienna, your recent behavior is beyond me." The elder woman stared down at her daughter, her cold eyes narrowing as she shook her head. "This is the third servant in the last two weeks. How many more, I wonder? As I've said many times before, if you're craving blood, all you must do is inform the kitchen."
"I'm sorry, Mama," Sienna murmured, her voice laced with a sulky edge as she licked her lips. "I was in a bad mood, and I haven't fed in quite a while. I… couldn't control myself." Her gaze flickered to the lifeless servant sprawled on the marble floor, blood pooling beneath him in dark rivulets.
The older vampire sighed, pulling a silk handkerchief from her sleeve as she drew Sienna toward her. She dabbed at the crimson smears on her daughter's mouth, her movements brisk but not unkind. "Really, Sienna. This kind of behavior is precisely what drove away Duke Loxley."
Sienna froze, her body going rigid as though struck. A slow, bitter burn spread through her chest. "Ezekiel only sees that girl as a distraction," she hissed after a moment, her voice sharp enough to cut. "He'll throw her away in no time."
Her mother said nothing, merely raising an elegant eyebrow before turning back to the mess on the floor. Sienna didn't wait for a response. Without another word, she swept from the room, her heels clicking against the marble, leaving her mother to deal with the wreckage of her hunger.
Lady Harriet was no stranger to her daughter's episodes, ever since her husband brought those two girls into their home things have been less than pleasant.
"This daughter of mine",she mutters loading the body in one of Sienna's trunks. The guards will dispose of it when night falls.
