The whole observatory fell into an ocean of silence after the invader said his piece.
The faces of the soldiers were calm and straight but one could still make out the faint traces of anger in their eyes.
The general on duty stepped forward and began barking instructions through his communicator, immediately the soldiers started moving and adjusted their position according to the instructions.
Various space began to open up in the ceiling of the facility and countless turrets were exposed. A whirring sound signified the loading and positioning of the turrets.
The ground shook as Mobile War Platforms that were being piloted by soldiers stepped out.
The scene was both scary and baffling. A whole military base mobilizing it's whole force just to defend against seven intruders seemed suspicious if you ask me.
Maybe there's more to it than what meets the eyes, maybe the military knows something the public didn't know about these intruders.
The creature grinned showing his ghastly, unsightly teeth
"Since this is your answer" it's voice boomed as it performed a mock courtesy spreading it's arms out, he then dropped the orb that was held in his grip and let it roll away from him. Then he raised his head slightly, it's beastly eyes glistening with madness and bloodlust
A deranged whisper snaked out of his throat
"Be my guest".
...Then he vanished.
Then everywhere became shrouded in silence but it didn't last long. Screams began to emerge among the ranks of the soldiers, short burst of high pitched scream, similar to an animals final cry before succumbing to death.
Then the soldiers began to drop dead. Wherever there was a scream, a soldier or two would drop and die instantly with either their throat slit from ear to ear or their heart was pierced by some sharp objects, a blade most likely.
The soldiers were confused, then they became shrouded in garbs of fear. Everyone was on high alert, no one knew when they would die, a blur was moving along the ranks of soldiers and the soldiers were falling down dead.
No one knew when it was going to be their turn. But they were soldiers afterall, soldiers sworn to give their lives for the protection and prosperity of humanity, something as mundane as fear wasn't supposed to affect their ability to follow their oath to the race.
And even though they were able to shake off their fear, it never stopped them from dying.
But it didn't last for long too. The towering creature had only vanished for about 20 seconds but it felt like they had been battling for an hour.
It reappeared in his original position it's blade dripping with blood and his scaled face widened in a grin. At this point about a hundred soldiers had fallen. It smiled, a scary spread of his lips, the kind of smile a predator would smile upon it's prey.
The paralyzed soldiers finally came to their senses as they opened fire upon the creature and it's crew.
A deafening roar rang out as various weapons of destruction open fire upon the intruders, the automatic turrets whirred to life as they discharged thousands of rounds per minute but all of that didn't seem to have any effect whatsoever.
The creatures grin widened
"Pitiful things"
The rest of the intruders that had remained unmoving suddenly unsheated the blades strapped to their backs and directed their gaze to the one at the front, seemingly waiting for orders.
But something strange happened to the orb that was left lying on the floor. It began to shake like something inside it was about escape. Then it began to levitate by itself all in all still shaking, then it surface began to crack but as soon as the cracks formed it would mend itself.
At this point, the Mobile War Platforms had began to close in on the invaders even though they acted like they didn't notice them.
The orb was shaking furiously at this moment seemingly ready to birth whatever was contained within it's confines, but the MWPs were closing in in an attempt to destroy it before it unleash whatever it was about to unleash. All around the soldiers wouldn't cease fire even though their bullets seemed ineffective and couldn't even leave a scratch on the intruders suits.
It became a race against time. Maybe the MWPs would get to the orb before it birthed whatever horror it was holding or it would succeed before they got to it, but that was of course if one neglected the existence of the ones that brought the orb in the first place.
A faster pilot was already at the fore front of his comrades, skillfully manoeuvring the mech around the soldiers. He was almost upon the orb when the wires holding the joints of the mechs together were sliced apart, no one knew how it was cut or saw how but the wires just came undone.
The heavy machinery lost all form of mobility and became just a large piece of metal falling face flat.
The orb began to glow brightly and before they knew it, a part of that glow separated from the main orb and then it began to gain shape. like the crafting of a master forger it began to gain form then next it gained substance.
what was born from the glow was as shocking as it was surprising. Still covered in faint traces of the glow was an hound, no a wolf or maybe an hybrid conveniently standing at a height of two meters.
Soon more glows like that were being formed and more hounds were being miraculously brought to life.
This was a not really good development for the army that seemingly stood no chance against the seven intruders but now that these hounds had been added to the equation, the odd of survival seemed to have been stacked against the army.
The hounds looked fierce with and unnatural.
They stood at an abnormal height with the tallest reaching and height of about four meters and no one knows the height of the next horror that would be birthed by that or as it doesn't seem to have run out of fuel. But that wasn't the only unnatural feature they possessed, rather than having rows of calcium for fangs, it was instead replaced by replaced by rows of steel and they were covered in scales rather than hide and these unnatural animals were currently baring their steel fangs at the human soldiers
Standing at the fore front of all this was the creature that had spoken in the human tongue and also seemed to be the leader of this pack.
A deranged grin was plastered on it's face as it raised his blade that had been dripping with blood of the soldiers it had slaughtered and pointed it at the mass of the human army, a single word escaped from it's lips
"Kill!!!"
