Chapter 2 - A Raven Migrates - 2

A car. It's engine almost nonexistent, As nothing but two shining rays of lights reflected into Chris' eyes. Only slight sparkles of light sprinkled off of the almost pitch black car. Chris had to scrunch his eyes as the two glowing streams of light almost blinded him. He almost jumped as it stopped, seeing that the night shone deeply as the moon flickered it's radiant silver gaze, and adding the fact that Chris had a long day of non-stop running, his guard started to slowly crumble...

He steadily inched closer towards the cars right window, but was only met with fully blacked out windows...

He attempted to open the door, but he was only met with loud rattling as he jerked the handle. He went over to his next best option - the back door, where, he finally managed to yank open the pitch black door.

As he jumped inside he was met with a subtle figure that was cloaked in a deep shadow. He slowly reached out towards his sunglasses, before taking them off. While his body remained still, a small hint of fear struck his lightly lit brown eyes. As, Infront of him a black mask with outlines that shined with gold soaked into his eyes. Accompanied by the mask was a beak that stretched out past the drivers seat.

"A crow?"

Chris said, his voice slightly shaking.

"No.."

He slowly took a more deeper inspection towards the mask..

"A raven."

Chris' voice now echoed a stern and confident tone...

"An interesting choise of clothing, but I'll go with it."

Not even a murmur left the eerie mask.

Chris slowly slouched back, as the seat slowly began to sink deeply, it's texture felt like a cloud. Chris had never felt, nore seen such an inviting and posh vehicle.

Noticing the rich elegancy of the seat, he peered back towards the raven, who's clothes matched the 'richie feel' of the cars majestic interior.

"Woah, whoever you guys are, you must be filthy rich."

Nothing.

"Say, how long will this take?"

Nothing.

"Who are you anyway?"

Something. The person slowly tilted their head back towards Chris.

"Raven."

The mysterious person said.

"Oh, so you do speak, eh?"

Chris replied, yet the Raven didn't answer back, he only shifted his hands towards the wheel, before accelerating.

While Chris remained layed back, his brain rapidly twisted and turned as if it were a cog, rotating infinitely. He knew he had to be limited with his words he spoke, yet still froze at any opportunity he had to speak.

He doesn't know much about his past - and maybe because of it only a blank brick wall stood Infront of him, that he could only slowly batter away. That brick wall being his communication skills. He doesn't know why, but talking to humans were the only puzzle he couldn't solve. Perhaps if it weren't for these hidden motives he'd be a lot smarter.

No matter though, Chris still managed to peak a few more questions towards the Raven.

"So then, you work for the Star Hotel?"

Nothing.

"How come you knew where to pick me up?"

Nothing.

"What's with the mask?"

Nothing. Chris almost felt defeated, this had been one of the longest conversations he'd had with a human, yet it felt as if it lasted a second.

Only a small glimmer of hope was reborn as a certain question Chris asked managed to swoop the Raven out of its bird nest..

"What about my injuries?"

Chris asked.

"They will be treated once at the Star Hotel."

The Raven replied. Chris took a deep breath, happy he had managed to make him cawk once again.

Dark barriers entrapped Chris' eyes, but once he shimmered his eyes a few times and thoroughly rubbed them, to his shock he'd managed to fall asleep..

"What the.."

Chris splurted out, not yet fully awake.

"I didn't realise you'd wake up so soon.."

A gentle voice echoed towards Chris, even though his ears still violently ringed after waking up he could tell it was a girl speaking.

"How long was I-"

Chris suddenly stopped speaking as he looked through the black-tinted window, as only small blurs zoomed past, with an irritating 'vroom' sound that accompanied them.

"The highway? Seriously how long was I out? And who are you?"

Chris not-so politely said as he reached out his index finger towards the woman, who, too was wearing another daunting mask. This time it was splattered with clean sheets of silver that masked over a chilling owls face.

Chris instantly regretted his words..

"Sorry! That was rude.. I just usually don't let my guard down as much as this.."

Chris mumbled, as while he may be poor with words and communication, his wits and intricate detective skills were unmatched. Maybe it's because of his current mental state, but Chris had always had a keen eye when it came to near-impossible situations, that any normal human would overlook.

"It's just that.. I've never let my guard down before.."

Chris may have seemed confused on the outside, yet on the inside a small, but impactful suspicious arose.

"I understand you may be flustered.."

Says the almost angel-like voice.

"But, I hope you don't mind that I took a slight look at your body while you were asleep.."

The, who Chris had guessed would be called 'The Owl' said..

"My body?"

Chris took a speedy scan of his body.. his injuries.. were gone?

"You did this?"

Chris pondered.

"Yes, oh.. I truly hope you don't mind.."

The owl replied, her voice as soothing as a lagoon.

"N-no it's alright.."

Chris responded.

Silence...

"Where are we heading?"

Chris asked, a quite obvious one, but yet he simply just wanted to see if the Raven, who still sat, his tongue clearly twisted as he hadn't gasped a single gasp would finally speak.

"Airport."

Raven reluctantly responded.

Chris gave a reassuring nod, as if he hadn't already known.

"And then, once I get to Japan?"

Chris wandered.

"We will escort you towards the Star Hotel, where, during the process, you will be asleep."

The Raven replied.

Chris hid his huge gulp carefully, as his suspicions steadily began to rise... But, he knew it was too late to back down now.. Atleast that's what he was telling himself... He wasn't stupid. But yet the road ahead of him was slowly crumbling before he got this once in a lifetime opportunity... There was no other choice.

"It'll only be for a month.."

He thought.

"If anything goes wrong I can easily escape.. I always do. Seeing things other people can't is my speciality, I'll just roll with it, like I always do.."

He suspected he had finally flushed away his negative thoughts, yet they still clinged on, which he'll soon begin to realise the further the Raven migrates...
