Chapter 10 - The Boy Who Heard It All

Episode 10

Edgar heard some things that he shouldn't have heard, things that were better hidden and unknown, now he finally understood why his mother kept the Caves of Secret and the Chamber of Secret away from him. It was for his own good.

After finding out the truth about himself... Edgar disconnected to whatever connected him with the mystical door and it's hieroglyphics, he fell down butt first.

He was scared, he was trembling, he didn't know what to do. Should he run away undetected or should he just barge in there and confront them about this madness.

He was really in a bind, who knew if he was going to get his life back, his simple life but that wasn't going to be the case anymore. Simple was something he should really learn to forget about.

Edgar was destined to be the fall of the House of Matter and the Death Mages, his birth was not something to be celebrated anymore... There goes the feeling of being special, the way his fate was so twisted and dark.

He couldn't blame his mother if she ever changed towards him, what he didn't know is that when he fell and disconnected from the door. Everyone who was inside heard him but he couldn't know that, because without reading and touching the writings on the door. It's impossible to hear what goes on from the inside.

Looked like when he fell Edgar broke his tail bone, unabling him to get up and run because he was going to need too. The door made sounds coming from inside like it was being opened by so many locks.

Trying to get up he couldn't his butt was in too much pain, the door opened and Ursula, Melanie, and Leviticus came out.

Shocked to only discover that Edgar was there.

"Sweetie, how did you get here?" Ursula rushed to check up on her son.

Edgar knew that he had no choice but to lie like his whole life depended on it, because truthfully it might do. That sounds like overreacting.

Edgar kept quiet thinking of something to say, that might not get him into trouble, "Uh_uh." He stutters, He felt like something was poking him where he felt pain and he checked it.

Wala! He took out his mother's red lipstick that he had forgotten that he tugged away.

"Oh, I was worried about you since you said you were going to come and check up on me but you didn't... So I came to check up on your room and you were nowhere to be found, and this was lying on the floor." He showed her the lipstick.

"Oh, my baby you're so sweet!" Ursula saw the lipstick but what made her even more emotional was unclear.

It was between two options; one it was either she was relieved that her son wasn't hurt, or two she just saw his face and got all emotional thinking about their discussion.

It's not like Edgar wanted to lie to his mother, it's just that he didn't have a choice. Though from the outside appearance of his mother.

She seemed like she was sweet, kind, caring, gentle and always calm if you didn't know her you'd think Ursula was an angel.

From afar she seemed like it with her crystal clear water eyes, her snowy-white hair, smooth skin, and her uni dimple. She was actually all those things.

But from what Melanie use to tell him about his mother's legendary days, she made her sound like she was way worse than his own father.

After being hugged by Ursula... Edgar did see the other person who he also heard, he was just staring at him.

"Mom, can we go home now?" Edgar asked.

"Of course sweetheart." Ursula carried him and they left the caves.

As they were going back to the castle, Ursula made going back look like it was easy. What he experienced the change of unexpected scenery did not happen when they were going back.

Maybe it was a thing that only appeared when you were going to the Chamber of Secrets. Ursula and Edgar sat on Ursula's bed, and Melanie and Leviticus were excused.

"Honey, are you sure you are okay and don't want me to check up on you?" Ursula really worried.

"No, mom I'm okay. I promise." Edgar replied.

Ursula believed him but something was still bothering her, as she took the lipstick from Edgar and placed it back where it was... The wall and shelf closed and went back to normal.

Edgar saw that his mother wasn't alright and he knew the reason why, it was all his fault and he did want to ask her about it but he was afraid to.

Before Ursula became a mom and stayed home from the stories of Melanie; Ursula was one of the most baddest villain to ever exist, not only did she kill her mother ate her heart and brain.

But she once went on a full on wage war to one of the guardians of magic, who actually brought it on to themselves when they took away her magic because of their fear of her reign of terror.

Ursula lost her mind and called up help from the depths of the underworld for assistance, after she got the help she needed she made those guardians pay.

She slaughtered every last one of them before eating their hearts out, burned down their village and cursed them that if it ever happens that their descendants live on every ten years she would return and slaughter all of them till their species in extinct.

So in other words Edgar was a little bit afraid of his mother, but he braved-up and asked her.

"Mom, is it all true?"

"What honey?" Ursula Keepin herself busy with fixing her shelf.

"What that man said about me is it all true, am I going to be the end of the world along with everything in it?" Edgar's voice was low.

Ursula stopped what she was doing and didn't even give it a second thought on how did he even hear what they were saying, she went back to sit next to him.

"No, no, no where did you get that madness?"

Edgar put some distance between him and his mother, "I heard you guys talking."

Ursula wasn't waiting for that answer, "How?"

"I-uh, read what was written on the door." Edgar answered.

Ursula's confusion became even more complicated, "How did you read the language?because I haven't taught you it."

"I don't know I just can." Not telling the whole truth.

Of course, Edgar didn't tell her about a thing that keeps on popping up on his face from time to time. That would make him sound crazy, it didn't matter if he was in a new world full of magic, crazy still sounded crazy.

Ursula probably thinking that Edgar was just pulling her leg, so she decided to test him out.

"Okay then if you can read what was written, what did it say?"

"I don't know." said Edgar.

For a split second Ursula was relieved but it was short-lived, when Leviticus who was standing at the door asked another question.

"What did you hear us talk about my Prince?"

"Well I don't know what you were talking about, but I did hear that man say I should be executed because I'm dangerous not to only the world but to everyone." Edgar said word for word.

Both Ursula and Leviticus were left speechless, Edgar wasn't lying everything he had said was true.

"What else did you hear?" Ursula asked.

"That my birth was prophesied by one of the most powerful seer, who you said was a psychopath and cursed us by the name of Magnus. Who lived three thousand years ago.

Ursula was so shocked that at one point she jumped out of the bed and stood up.

That's when reality kicked her right in the face, everything that was said about her son could be true, he could be the end of everything. Already in just a single day he had already caused Melanie her eyes, which she couldn't heal anymore for some reason.

He had sent one of the oldest seers in the world into suspended animation, entered the cave, claimed to have read the hieroglyphics and the ancient language, and now he could hear them.

Something had definitely changed.

So she called for help, summoned a demon to read her son.

"Okay now Edgar look into my eyes" the demon ordered Edgar.

"But you don't have eyes." said Edgar.

The demon that Ursula had someone was called Banshee, it was a type of demon that can predict a person's future. And the reason Edgar said that it it didn't have eyes.

Is because it really didn't have eyes, the Banshee was like a mummified demon; it was wrapped with burnt and old linen bandages, it was scrawny and didn't have any flesh. It was practically a dummy but a demon, and it's eyes they were just empty eye-sockets with nothing but darkness within.
