Chapter 2: The Past Catches Up

Sophia's heart was racing as she stood there, her arm still tingling from Alexander's touch. She couldn't believe he was standing in front of her, looking as handsome and charming as ever. It had been three years since they'd last seen each other, and Sophia had thought she was over him. But as she looked into his eyes, she felt all the old feelings come flooding back.

"What do you want, Alexander?" Sophia asked again, trying to keep her voice steady.

Alexander smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I want to talk to you, Sophia," he said, his voice low and serious. "I want to explain what happened between us."

Sophia raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "What's to explain?" she asked, trying to sound nonchalant. "You cheated on me, and then you broke up with me. It's pretty simple."

Alexander's face fell, and for a moment, Sophia felt a pang of guilt. But then she remembered all the pain he had caused her, and her anger came flooding back.

"I know I hurt you, Sophia," Alexander said, his voice filled with regret. "And I'm sorry. I was young and stupid, and I made a mistake. But I've been thinking about you a lot lately, and I realize that I still have feelings for you."

Sophia's eyes widened in surprise. "Feelings for me?" she repeated, her voice incredulous. "You've got to be kidding me. You broke my heart into a million pieces, and now you're telling me you still have feelings for me?"

Alexander took a step closer, his eyes burning with intensity. "I know it sounds crazy, Sophia," he said, his voice low and husky. "But it's the truth. I've been thinking about you nonstop since we broke up. I've been wondering what could have been, what would have happened if I hadn't messed things up between us."

Sophia felt a shiver run down her spine as Alexander's words washed over her. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Was he seriously telling her that he still had feelings for her? And what did he mean by "what could have been"? Did he really think they could go back to the way things were before?

As Sophia stood there, trying to process her emotions, Alexander reached out and took her hand. Sophia felt a jolt of electricity as his fingers wrapped around hers, sending shivers down her spine.

"Let's talk, Sophia," Alexander said, his voice filled with conviction. "Let's talk about what happened between us, and what could happen in the future. I want to make things right between us, to prove to you that I'm not the same person I was three years ago."

Sophia hesitated, unsure of what to do. A part of her wanted to pull away, to tell Alexander that she wasn't interested in rekindling their romance. But another part of her, a part that she couldn't ignore, wanted to hear him out, to see if he was really serious about making things right between them.

As she stood there, weighing her options, Sophia felt a sense of trepidation. She knew that if she let Alexander back into her life, she would be taking a risk. She would be risking her heart, her emotions, and her sanity. But she also knew that she couldn't just walk away, not without hearing him out, not without seeing if there was still a spark between them.

"Okay," Sophia said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "Let's talk."

Alexander's face lit up with a smile, and he pulled Sophia into a nearby café. As they sat down at a small table, Sophia felt a sense of nervous excitement. She had no idea what the future held, but she was ready to face it head-on, to see if she and Alexander could rekindle their romance, or if they would finally be able to move on from each other.

The question was, what would happen next? Would Sophia and Alexander be able to work through their issues, or would their past mistakes tear them apart? Only time would tell, but one thing was for sure: the conversation they were about to have would change everything.
