One day after class, as Emily was gathering her things, she heard the door creak open. Sam walked in, as usual, with a casual smile. But this time, there was something different in his eyes—something daring.
"Ms. Carter," he said softly, his voice almost a whisper, "you know, you're really something. You're smart, beautiful, and you've got a way of making everything seem interesting."
The compliment sent a wave of warmth through her chest, but also a deep unease.
