I did not hesitate, taking her mouth to mine, our tongues gliding across one another as we eagerly explored the other's mouth.
Mara gazed up at me, her heart pounding wildly in her chest to the point that I too felt it. It seemed that every time we made contact, I could feel a flutter wash over her. The candlelight flickered, and though the warm light excited me, the shadows seemed to tease and prod my psyche, trying to distract me from this wonderful moment. Mara could see the reflection of her own longing in his eyes in my own as we grappled with our feelings, with the thought that despite the future, tonight we would not be alone.
"Lucian," Mara whispered, her voice raw with emotion, "I feel like I'm burning up."
I kissed her neck and gripped her neck, pulling her closer for another kiss. As our mouths parted I pulled back and stared hungrily into her eyes, "Is that a bad thing?" I breathlessly replied.
