Seles POV
'I am bored, so bored. There isn't anything interesting for me to do.'Seles thought as she was standing in the centre of the Awakening chamber.
'And this idiot brother of mine is still bragging about God knows what,' she berated the boy beside her, her twin brother Cedric.
Although both of them were born at the same time, they couldn't be any more different.
Cedric loved to fuel his ego, whereas Seles kept her calm in any situation.
Even now when all other idiots in the room were flattering them. Cedric thought as if it meant something, as if he was some kind of king, but Seles knew otherwise.
They were just flattering them because of their background and potential.
She was just lost in her thoughts, contemplating her boredom, when the door to the chamber swung open and a handsome boy came inside the room.
He had black hair and red eyes, indicating his direct lineage, and moreover, he looked like a split copy of her father.
She recognised him immediately. 'Alden.'
Although she hadn't met him much, ever since childhood she had always kept an eye on him.
While others dismissed him as a useless and unfit for succession, Seles was different she knew better than to underestimate anyone.
But she had stopped paying attention after he was half beaten by Cedric. She hadn't expected him to change much after that.
She had thought he would remain the same weak, passive, and easily forgotten, but he was different now; he was a far cry from how he was just some months ago.
He had changed. His eyes, once filled with uncertainty, now were brimming with confidence, and his weak and fragile body was seemingly well built now, nearly on par with Cedric.
As he entered, many people started murmuring, which didn't seem to have any effect on Alden.
A sudden flicker of interest appeared in her eyes as she thought of a way to study Alden's transformation as well as relieve herself from a bit of boredom.
Alden suddenly looked at the centre as if feeling her gaze. As she quickly averted her gaze, her mind already scheming a brilliant plan.
She silently signalled her brother about the arrival of Alden. She knew her brother didn't like Alden, and it was only a matter of time before he would create a commotion.
As she expected, Cedric walked over towards Alden as soon as he noticed his arrival and greeted him with his usual smirk.
But this time, like always, Alden didn't flinch or look down as Cedric closed in on him; it was the opposite this time, as he was observing every movement of Cedric.
As Cedric saw Alden was not reacting, a cruel smirk played on his face as he said something about some woman who vanished and abandoned Alden like his mother.
Seles raced her mind to think about who he was talking about as she tried to remember anyone vanishing, as she remembered about how the spirit guardian left by the founder had vanished.
'So he was close with Lady Ellara,' she thought in amusement.
But as she was thinking about it, she heard a loud bang as she quickly turned her head to see Alden punching Cedric as he was trying to say something.
She looked at Alden in surprise, her eyes widening as she saw into his eyes; she saw a deep abyss of emotions that quickly calmed down.
He turned in her direction; suddenly she was shocked, but she didn't show it on her face. She kept her face calm and composed as her mind started to race inside about how can a person change so much in such a short time.
She looked at him again as his face was calm as he was looking at everyone one by one, just like the calm before the storm.
As the room fell silent after what had just transpired, Cedric quickly got out of his gaze and started walking towards Alden, his face twisted in anger, but she could read his face clearly as there was another emotion overwhelming than anger; it was humiliation.
Cedric was humiliated in front of all these people, so how could he take that and that too from a person whom he considered a bug?
She was sure not going to miss the scene now as the entertainment was reaching its peak. She wished she could have popcorn. She had popcorn in her spatial ring, but she couldn't eat it in front of so many people in such a serious situation.
As she was anticipating the fight, a cold voice filled with authority echoed through the chamber, "Enough.".
The voice was followed by an overwhelming wave of pressure. It was too overwhelming and overbearing. Even she could feel her knees creaking a bit, but she didn't kneel or fall on the ground, as that would be too unbecoming.
As she resisted the powerful aura, she looked at others; some were unconscious, some were flat on the ground, and some kneeled.
There were only 5-6 people who were still on their legs, but even their legs were shaking as if they couldn't take the pressure.
She looked towards the direction of Alden and Cedric as she saw both struggling to stand and looking at the entrance in confusion.
Soon she turned around to see towards the entrance as she saw a man walking in, his face cold, as his black hair swayed with his steps and his crimson eyes indifferent.
He was none other than the patriarch of the family and her father, Alaric Draven.
She knew her father wasn't even using one percent of his aura, and they were having trouble with just that. He was followed by some elders.
As the patriarch entered and looked at everyone, he quickly understood the situation and retracted his pressure as the kids heaved a sigh of relief.
The patriarch then looked at everyone in the room before his gaze settled Cedric and Alden, his eyes not betraying any emotions.
He looked at them only for a moment as he said in a cold
"Get to your respective protection circle; the awakening will commence in 10 minutes." As he ignored Cedric's Furious expression.
Cedric could only curse and walk away as he had no other choice.
But before walking away, he didn't forget to give Alden a furious look: "I'll deal with you after awakening." He spoke his expression twisted.
As she started walking towards the protection circle, she looked back at Alden, 'Interesting,' she murmured with a smirk as her mind was plotting her some new scheme.
