Chapter 7 - MEET MY MATE.

DAVIDA.

I stormed into my chambers; my hands clenched together into fists as I tried not to grit my teeth against one another, Athena trailing behind me, probably with a smug look on her face.

"Mind enlightening about why you are so pissed off?" She probed and her question only made me angrier. I felt the urge to destroy things but had to cool down and stop.

"How dare she, who the hell does she think she is?" I raged, gritting my teeth against one another, feeling a knot in my stomach.

Athena chuckled as I paced up and down my room before going to sit on my bed comfortably and crossing her legs over one another.

"I am guessing this has something to do with the girl I saw earlier on with Franklin". She pointed out and I nodded, feeling rage built in me at the mention of his so-called girlfriend.

"How dare she question who I am to my son?" I yelled, turning to face my dresser and clearing everything on it away in anger.

Athena's eyes bulged as she let out a gasp.

"What?" She whispered and I refused to answer her, breathing heavily.

"Wait! Hold on. Are you saying someone stood up to you?" Athena inquired, disbelief obvious in her tone and I nodded, turning to scowl at her.

"And what is amusing about that?" I demanded, glaring at her when I noticed she was trying to hold back a laugh.

"WOW! Who is she to him? She must be so bold. I think I like her already". Athena commented and I felt my jaw tightening.

"Get out!" I ordered and Athena looked taken aback, scrutinizing me with her eyeballs.

"Out". I repeated, my gaze not friendly and all she could do was to laugh at me.

"Don't tell me you are jealous". She said, with a knowing grin and I felt my cheeks flush, her words sinking in my head.

'No! It wasn't possible. Why would I be jealous of such a girl?' I pondered, looking around my room in wonder.

"I don't think so". I replied to Athena calmly and she let out a sigh.

"Come here". She said, patting the empty side of my bed for me to come sit on and I obliged.

"Tell me everything!". She instructed and I took my lower lips in my mouth.

"Franklin has a girlfriend and she is also his mate. He found out tonight".

"Ouch!" Athena let out a painful groan, and surprisingly, I felt my chest tightening in pain, just remembering what I said.

"But how come, are you sure he isn't mistaken?" Athena bombarded me with questions I couldn't answer.

'Was this perhaps another cue from the moon goddess that he isn't mine, then why get me mated to him in the first place, why is she continuously just trying to punish me?' I wondered, digging my nails into my palm and drawing blood.

My hand burned, considering I was using a large amount of strength, and Athena, who was talking to me, noticed that I seemed to have zoned out, so she stood up and came to my front only to notice what I was doing.

Her eyes widened in shock and she instantly grabbed my hand and removed my nails.

"Are you insane, why do you always derive pleasure from hurting yourself?". She scolded me, anger blazing through her eyes.

"Why would she give me someone else's mate?" I asked and Athena furrowed her brows at me.

"Perhaps she is telling you to fight for your own happiness this time, what you want". Athena answered, before rolling her eyes and leaving the room.

Afterward, I collapsed onto my bed, my eyes closing on their accord.

'Athena!'. I thought and smiled, remembering my friend who stood by me year after year, never leaving my side and always looking out for me.

Just then, my mind drifted to Franklin again and I recalled what I had caught him doing earlier.

My cheeks turned pink and I bit my lower lips, my hands moving to my chest, to stroke my nipples through my dress, wishing it was his hands.

'It's been a long time since I had any male touch'.

I was still playing with my boobs while trying not to moan when I heard a knock on my door and the maid informed me it was time for dinner.

I groaned, feeling frustrated and wishing I could skip but that wasn't possible. Important guests would be present, and we had to discuss all about the realm's properitiy.

I adjusted my dress and face before going to join them all in the dining. I met everyone beaming as I walked in, savoring the delicious food that was being served as they discussed stuff.

A smile found a way to my face, as I noticed the mood was joyful. It was the full moon, after all, and the moon goddess had been gracious to all except me.

Immediately, I made my appearance known; everyone got up to greet me and pay their respects. I acknowledged and then took my seat before they could.

I was adjusting myself as the servants tended to my food when I caught him and her from the corner of my eye. The bitch was clinging to him as usual, as he ate.

My lips twitched, fighting the urge to sneer as Frankie laughed at something Jane whispered to his ear.

I felt anger rising in me again as my hands clenched tightly on my fork, digging into my meat with such harshness that I wished it was her face I was disfiguring.

I continued to look at them and noticed something that made my heart skip a beat of fear. Franklin was looking at her with love in his eyes, his golden orbs glowing at her.

All colors drained from my face as I felt a lump in my chest.

'What was this?' I wondered, beads of sweat gathering on my forehead when Franklin suddenly stood up with his wine glass, tapping on it gently with his spoon.

My eyes narrowed as I followed every move he made, my lips pressing into a thin line.

"Ladies and gentlemen". He called with a sly grin on his face and everyone paid attention to him. I watched as he dropped his glass cup and extended his hands to Jane who arched her eyeballs at him in confusion.

As her hands touched him, I felt a pang of jealousy run through me, followed by this feeling of dread, as my stomach dropped.

"I would like you all to meet my mate right here. Jane Nightingale". He introduced her, and Jane's eyes lit up instantly as the whole room burst into cheers, the sounds of clapping heard.

I sat there, rooted to a spot and unable to move, feeling my world just collapsed.

'What did he just say?'.
