Chapter 1 - Reborn(1)

The first thing I did every day was open my phone and watch anime. A lazy life I lived, seeking nothing but fleeting pleasures.

I was lazy,

incompetent,

talentless,

and a complete piece of trash.

Every night, I wished upon the sky to be reincarnated into a new world, just like in the isekai fictions I so loved.

Yet, no matter how often I wished, my prayers remaining unanswered.

I hated myself for becoming like this. If only I hadn't wasted my days watching and reading fictional stories.

If only...

If only I had spent my life the way I truly wanted to. Could my future have been entirely different?

I wanted to escape this world, I had no place in it.

I was at the bottom pile of trash.

My family had supported me when I was young, always helping me when I needed it.

But then, the unthinkable happened. Our house caught fire because of my carelessness, and my parents died a tragic death as a result of my actions.

That regret has stayed with me ever since.

A scar I could never truly forget.

The government stepped in, providing money and supporting my education as the sole survivor of the fire.

This should have been enough to change my life, right?

You'd think so. But no. I squandered all that money on useless things such as anime figures, shiny trinkets, and things I didn't even need.

Fortunately, I still attended school and didn't skip it. That, at least, was the one thing I didn't regret.

Suddenly, my alarm rang, jolting me out of my thoughts and back to reality.

There was no point in mulling over "what ifs." What mattered now was the present.

I glanced at my calendar: October 15, 20XX. A note was taped to the date.

Last Day.

I looked around my room one last time, taking in the mess of forgotten dreams and wasted time.

I hesitantly reached for a blade.

The cold steel felt heavy in my hand. I tried my best to welcome it.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before plunging it into my chest repeatedly.

The pain was unbearable. It hurt.

Blood poured out of my mouth, as my body grew weaker.

Finally, I would be free.

As my consciousness faded, my thoughts shifted towards the memories of my parents.

Mom, dad.. I'm coming...

[...]

I heard a woman's voice scream at me with joy.

"Congratulations, it's a baby boy!"

The words were distant, muffled, but growing clearer by the second.

What?

Was this the afterlife?

I tried to open my eyes, though my vision was blurred and my body felt foreign. I slowly saw an image of a woman coming to my view.

She had long red hair, as bright as a flame paired with kind azure eyes that shimmered with tears.

She looked at me, tears falling unto my tiny face.

"Darev come here! He has my eyes!"

This moment was familiar... Way too familiar.

Could it be?

I raised my tiny hands—hands that didn't feel like mine—and let out a wail.

It wasn't intentional, just the instinctive cry of a newborn.

A man approached, his sturdy frame towering over me. His golden hair standing out paired with his yellow eyes that imitated a tiger. While wearing a smile full of pride.

"My eyes, Ariel! She has the same eyes as me Ariel!" The man wailed out.

"Yes... Yes he does, Darev my dear.." The woman whispered, her voice trembling with joy.

Their tears fell onto my tiny body, and I felt a warmth I hadn't known for years.

This wasn't the end, but only the beginning.

The beginning of my new life, in this new world I find myself in.

With my wish granted, I will make sure that I don't waste a single moment of it!

And so began my journey on this new unkown world.
