Chapter 6 - Taming

John blinked in surprise at the voice that seemed to echo in his mind. But his shock quickly gave way to excitement as he realized his ability had just updated. Eager to test out its new potential, he glanced at his new friend, the black hound who sat on his haunches beside him. With a thought, he activated Beast Insight Vision again, this time feeling a slight shift in his perception as his focus intensified on the hound.New lines of text appeared before him, a little bit more detailed than before. ---The additional detail on elemental affinity caught his eye immediately. Shadow — a fitting match for his hound's dark and stealthy nature. He felt a thrill at the potential this small revelation hinted at. If he could unlock and recognize elemental affinities in Beasts now, perhaps he'd discover even more insights and abilities as his skill evolved. The hound tilted its head as if sensing John's scrutiny, and he gave it a reassuring pat."Dude, I'm really lucky that I met you."John's gaze softened as he looked down at his hound, a Rare Beast with an advanced Shadow affinity, an amazing beginning indeed. This powerful Beast would be invaluable in both combat and taming future Beasts. He couldn't help but feel lucky to have bonded with such a strong creature so early in his journey. His mind buzzed with possibilities, and with an eager grin, he reached for one last book on the table. The cover bore a single word: Taming. As he read, John learned that taming was a complex and varied process, requiring a combination of skill, knowledge, and sometimes sheer tenacity. Each Beast was unique, meaning that no single approach worked universally. Even the same Beast sometime required different taming methods.John read the book and found summarize few important points of taming methods:1. Dominance Test: This method tested the Tamer's strength and determination, proving their authority over the Beast. It was commonly used for territorial or combative Beasts, establishing the Tamer as a respected figure. While effective, it could be dangerous if the Beast refused to yield. The tamer will be vulnerable and the Beast will be more hostile.2. Empathy Bond Ritual: This gentler approach centered around forming an emotional connection, often involving shared experiences or a symbolic exchange. It worked best with Beasts inclined toward companionship or mutual trust and relied on the Tamer's ability to understand and resonate with the creature's emotions.3. Offering: In this method, the Tamer presented an item of significance — food, a precious stone, or a magical artifact — as a gift to the Beast, demonstrating respect and goodwill. It was often used for noble or prideful Beasts, but success depended on the value the creature placed on the offering.4. Soul-Synchronization: The riskiest and most advanced method, Soul-Synchronization required aligning the Tamer's soul with the Beast's. This process could grant a powerful bond, allowing a deeper understanding and even shared abilities, but the risk was high. If the Tamer failed to match the Beast's soul, both could suffer severe consequences and it was nearly impossible to attempt again. The book warned that taming was not always guaranteed, especially with higher-ranking Beasts. Even if the Tamer succeeded in the ritual the bond could fail over time if not carefully maintained. And as John read further, he realized that even repeating a failed method would be harder with each attempt, as the Beast grew more resistant. Then, John heard the same voice in his head again."You have read the suitable information! Beast Insight Vision updated!"He looked at the black hound and see the Taming Method line is now filled with "Dominance" method.John felt a thrill as he closed the taming book. With Beast Insight Vision on his side, he didn't have to rely on guesswork to choose the right taming method. This abbility was already making his life easier by making him able to see split seconds moment before something happen, but he can see much more. But the new questions swirling in his mind filled him with curiosity. Could Beasts evolve into stronger forms? Was it possible to breed them? Or maybe, could he even gain access to their abilities somehow? If any of those possibilities were real, this world had just become a lot more interesting. He couldn't wait to explore its potential.Setting aside the books for now, John searched the library shelves a little longer but found nothing else that seemed relevant. With a slight sigh, he headed back to the inn after putting the books back on its shelves.Irene greeted him as he walked in with warm expressin as always."You're back," she noted. "I spoke with Marik. You'll be sharing a room with him for now, if that's alright?"John glanced over at Marik, who gave a nonchalant shrug. "Yeah, I don't mind," Marik said, clearly indifferent."Thanks," John replied to Marik and Irene, grateful for the accommodation. He couldn't afford to be picky, given his lack of money.Irene offered him a reassuring smile. "No problem. You can both rest up tonight, and tomorrow we'll head out again.""Another Dungeon?" John asked."Exactly," Irene confirmed, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "There's anoter nearby site of a lower-leveled Dungeon."John's pulse quickened at the thought of exploring more Dungeons. "Sounds good to me."She gave him a nod. "Get some rest, then. Tomorrow might be a lot more interesting than today."John nodded, can't wait for tomorrow.--
