Chapter 1 - 1. A Cosmic Gift & Rebirth

Kael Xeres was an ordinary young man living in a bustling modern city. His life was filled with the usual routines—work, study, and the occasional outing with friends. But above all, Kael had one great passion: reading. His favorite hobby was immersing himself in novels, particularly those with cultivation.

He'd read those kinds of novels countless times, captivated by the protagonist's incredible journey. Kael admired their rise to power, the way they navigated through challenges, always growing stronger. It was everything Kael longed for—an escape from the monotony of his life and a glimpse into a world of magic and cultivation.

One evening, Kael sat in his favorite spot, nestled on his couch with a cup of tea in hand, eyes glued to the screen of his tablet. His apartment was quiet, save for the soft hum of the refrigerator and the occasional traffic sounds from outside.

'If only I could live in a world with cultivation, even one with magic would be cool, just something to get away from this monotonous life I'm living.' Kael thought, his eyes scanning the pages of the novel.

'A world where power means everything and where I could rise to the top. Ahhh how nice that would be… But that's just fantasy.'

Just then, Kael's phone buzzed on the coffee table. It was a message from his friend, Max.

- Yo, you still reading that novel? We should go out. I've gotten the guys together and they are flying in tomorrow! It's Saturday night so before they get here let's go have some fun!

Kael sighed, glancing at the clock. It was late, and he wasn't in the mood for another night out.

-Nah, I'm good bro, we've been going out a lot lately so I'm going to stay in tonight and finish up this chapter I'm reading. You go ahead, man.

-But you've already read it like five times! Sigh… alright man. Tomorrow though! I'll be over sometime in the afternoon!

-Pfft, alright man, tomorrow it is! Have a good night brodie!

-You too man, rest well. :)

Kael quickly returned to the novel, his mind lost in the world of magic, cultivation, and ancient secrets. The protagonist had just made a major breakthrough in his cultivation, and Kael was eager to see him whoop some ass.

But then, without warning, a sharp pain struck his chest.

"What the hell…?" Kael gripped his heart, his vision blurring as the pain intensified. His body froze, and his breathing grew erratic.

He tried to stand, but his legs buckled beneath him. Everything around him soon turned into darkness. His last thought before losing consciousness was one of regret.

The darkness swallowed Kael whole, and an overwhelming presence filled his mind. He opened his eyes to find himself floating in an infinite void, unable to comprehend the vastness around him. A soft but powerful voice echoed in his mind.

"Do not be alarmed, mortal. I have brought you here because your time has come to an end. You seek to transcend your world, to rise above the mundane existence of your past life. Speak, and I will grant you three wishes, for I am in a generous mood today."

Kael blinked, his heart racing. He tried to speak but was unable to find his voice. However, his thoughts were clear.

'This… This is real? I'm dead? And this being… It's offering me three wishes?!'

After a long moment of silent thought, Kael gathered his courage.

"I… I want to cultivate. Not just any cultivation, but the best. I want power, wisdom, and the ability to control my destiny."

The voice chuckled softly, echoing like a distant thunderclap.

"A noble wish, indeed. But I need you to be more specific than that. What is it that you truly desire from the world of cultivation, mortal? Speak, and I shall grant it."

Kael's eyes widened. He took a deep breath, then spoke with newfound clarity.

"I wish to have unparalleled comprehension of the Dao, allowing me to instantly understand any cultivation technique, law, or principle. I will possess the insight to create my own cultivation method that surpasses all others, refining my body, mind, and spirit at an unimaginable rate. With this ability, I can adapt and evolve my cultivation to any situation, mastering not only the five elements but also any force of nature I choose to study."

The voice fell silent, as if contemplating Kael's request.

"Ah, a request for unparalleled comprehension… You seek the ability to understand the very core of cultivation itself, to forge your own path and create techniques beyond the reach of others? A wise wish. The ability to truly master the Dao, to shape your cultivation as you see fit, is a gift that few can claim."

A brief silence passed before the voice continued.

"By understanding the principles of the Dao in ways that others cannot, you will carve your own path, forging a cultivation method unlike anything the world has ever known. But remember, even with unparalleled comprehension, creation is not without its trials. The power to shape your destiny is in your hands, but it requires great responsibility."

The voice softened, almost contemplative.

"Your wish is granted. May your insights lead you to heights beyond imagination."

Kael felt a strange energy course through him, the essence of understanding and limitless potential pouring into every fiber of his being. He couldn't explain it, but he could feel the changes already taking place.

The being spoke again, its tone now calm and final.

"You have two more wishes remaining. Choose wisely."

Kael paused his mind raced as he thought of the possibilities. He wanted to be truly unstoppable in this new world, but how?

"I wish to become the absolute master of time, with the power to control it in all aspects. I will be able to freeze, slow down, speed up, or reverse time within any area I choose. I can also travel freely through time, revisiting past moments, or leaping into the future at will. No being or event can exist outside my control of time. I will have the power to alter timelines, erase undesirable events, and make changes to the flow of time itself, ensuring that I always remain in complete control of my destiny."

"A wish to master time itself, to become its sovereign… you seek a power that could rival even the gods. The ability to control, reverse, and traverse time is a gift that few could fathom, let alone wield. Very well, Kael. I grant you dominion over time—its flow, its course, and its very essence. But heed this: with such power comes a burden. Time is fickle and unforgiving. Should you tamper with it too recklessly, you may awaken forces beyond your control, and the fabric of reality itself could unravel. Use this power wisely, for you are now its master, but even masters must respect the nature of what they wield."

Soon after the being spoke, Kael's body felt as if it were suspended in an endless void, the very fabric of time flowing around him like an infinite river. For the first time, he could feel the heartbeat of the world, the pulse of time itself beating in sync with his own. Every second, every moment, every flicker of existence was now within his grasp. The ticking of the clock, the change of seasons, the rise and fall of the sun—they were all his to command.

As he focused, time itself responded. The world around him slowed to a crawl, his senses stretching beyond the limits of normal perception. His eyes widened as he realized that he could stop time entirely if he wished, freezing every movement, every thought, every being in place.

But it wasn't just the ability to freeze or speed up time that had been granted to him—it was the power to manipulate the very flow of events. He could already feel the threads of reality shifting beneath his feet, the fabric of the present, past, and future intertwining as if they were malleable clay in his hands. His mind began to expand with the possibilities. He could rewind time to fix mistakes, jump forward to foresee the future, or even skip entire eras without ever leaving his place. It was as if the entire timeline of the world was an open book, and he was now the author.

For a brief moment, Kael closed his eyes, overwhelmed by the enormity of it all. He felt infinite, untethered, as though he had transcended the normal limitations of existence. The weight of being the master of time wasn't just a mental shift; it was an emotional one as well. A flood of possibilities rushed through him, but with it came the realization that no one—not even the most powerful mages of Black Clover—could stand against him now. He was the master of time itself, and with that power came the ability to shape the world in ways others could only dream of.

Yet, as the being had warned, there was a heavy responsibility that came with such power. The timelines were delicate. One wrong move, one slip, and the very essence of reality could be torn apart. Kael's mind sharpened, and a new sense of clarity settled within him. He would have to use this gift wisely, not rashly. Even with such power at his fingertips, he knew that there would be consequences if he didn't tread carefully.

He had mastery over time and an unrivaled understanding of cultivation. Yet, as he thought about the future and the limitless possibilities before him, one thought consumed him: what if there was still a ceiling he couldn't break?

'Will there ever be a limit to my growth? To my potential? I don't want to just stop here. I want to reach beyond what anyone has ever thought possible. No limits. No boundaries.'

The being's voice echoed once again, as if sensing Kael's inner turmoil. "You are a wise one, Kael. But no matter how powerful you become, every path has its limitations. Even the most transcendent beings in your dimension face obstacles."

Kael shook his head, his eyes burning with determination. "I don't want limitations. I want to be beyond that. I want to have the limitless potential to grow, to evolve without any boundaries. I don't want to reach a point where I stop advancing. I want to keep becoming stronger, learning, evolving… forever."

The being's silence hung in the air for a moment before it spoke again. "Are you sure, Kael? To have limitless potential is to constantly strive, constantly challenge yourself. You will never have a resting point, always moving forward. It will be a path of constant change, one that can be both exhilarating and exhausting."

Kael's voice was firm, unwavering. "I understand. I'm ready for it. I won't be content with just being the strongest now. I want the strength to break through every barrier, every obstacle in my path. I want to keep growing, forever. That's my third and final wish."

The being seemed to pause for a long while, as though weighing the gravity of Kael's request. Finally, it spoke, its voice filled with a mixture of awe and approval. "Very well, Kael. Your wish is granted. From this moment onward, your potential shall know no bounds. You will grow beyond anything imaginable, and no power will ever be able to stop you from achieving greater heights. There will be no limits to your cultivation, no boundaries to your strength. You will always move forward, always evolve, for as long as you wish."

Kael felt the shift within him, a surge of energy unlike anything he had ever known. The very air around him seemed to pulse with the promise of endless growth. His body, mind, and soul were now free of all limitations. "This… this is what I've been looking for." His voice was filled with wonder, but also a deep sense of purpose. "I'll never stop. I'll keep moving forward, no matter what."

"Since the wishes you have chosen are completely broken it must have some kind of balance, even if it's something small… hmmmm."

"Ah-ha! I got it! Since this is a new world for you. I will make it so you are reborn into a baby and I will seal your memories of the 2nd and 3rd wishes that you have chosen but don't worry on the day of your 15th birthday your memories will be unsealed."

Kael was momentarily stunned and before he could say anything the being spoke,

"Remember, Kael, even limitless potential comes with the weight of responsibility. You will constantly grow, but you must decide how to use that power. It is easy to become lost in the pursuit of strength. Make sure you never forget what you fight for."

And soon after he spoke the being snapped his fingers and I found my consciousness fading.

"Good Luck Kael."

Kael's first sensation was warmth. It wasn't anything extraordinary, but there was a gentleness to it, as though the world around him was waiting. His body felt heavy, foreign, and he struggled to adjust to the unfamiliar feeling of being so small, so helpless. His vision swam in and out of focus, the dimly lit room barely taking shape around him.

Where am I?

He blinked slowly, trying to clear his mind. Fragments of memories began to surface—familiar faces, places, and feelings that felt distant yet clear. Kael had been someone else. A man. He could remember reading, dreaming, living a quiet, uneventful life, but everything had changed in an instant.

I… remember who I was, but… why can't I remember how I got here?

His thoughts were cloudy, like trying to grasp something just out of reach. He knew his life before, but not how he ended up here.

Kael was certain, though, that he was no longer in his old world. He felt it in the air—this place, this world, was different. The faint crackle of magic lingered, and his senses tingled with the unknown.

The sound of a baby's cry broke through his thoughts, and he turned his head, seeing a small child wriggling beside him. His eyes lingered on the infant for a moment until a soft voice interrupted his musings. "Well, aren't you a quiet one?"

Kael's gaze shifted upward, locking onto the figure standing above him—a woman, probably in her thirties, wearing a simple apron. Her tired eyes softened when she looked at him, as though there was something familiar about him, though he knew nothing about her.

She gently lifted him from the crib, cradling him with surprising tenderness. Kael's mind was elsewhere, still trying to make sense of the fragments of his past life. His body was unfamiliar, but the woman's gentle touch calmed him. He didn't feel discomfort, nor did he feel the usual unease a newborn might feel. But neither did he feel any real attachment.

"You're an odd one," she murmured, more to herself than him. "Not a sound from you. I wonder what kind of person you'll grow up to be."

Kael didn't respond. He wasn't sure how to, or even if he wanted to. He wasn't particularly upset about being reborn, nor was he happy about it. His past life had been just that—a life. This was his second chance, but that didn't make it any clearer. He didn't know why he was here however he couldn't let this chance go to waste

I'll figure it out… eventually.

As if sensing his thoughts, the woman smiled softly. "I'm going to name you Kael. I think it suits you."

Hmm? Perhaps it's fate.. ehh who cares.

The woman, still humming a soft tune, placed him back into the crib. Kael lay there, watching the other babies in the room. The world felt so vast, and yet so… ordinary. There were no grand revelations. No moment of clarity.

I don't know how I got here nor do I know what year it is.. but I do know this….

He shut his eyes, feeling a quiet resolve settle in his chest.

I don't have to rush. I don't have to force things. Whatever comes next will come in its own time. I'll find my place here… even if I don't know how yet.

The woman left the room, and Kael was left alone with his thoughts. He wasn't bothered by it. He wasn't afraid either. If this was a new beginning, then it was a beginning he would face on his own terms, even if those terms were unclear for now.

He closed his eyes and drifted into the gentle quiet of the room, his mind still restless but no longer anxious.

(And that wraps up the first chapter, this is the first fanfic/novel type that I have ever written so don't expect much because I don't even know what I'm doing. Just had a few ideas I wanted to jot down and see where I go with it. Okay that's all… bye)
