Chapter 4 - CHAINED ON ICE (PART 2)

They've already settled, setting up camp for the night before moving into the mission the next day . Beromi sat near the fire, enjoying himself and kind of surprised by the wolfkin; they welcomed him so easily without raising suspicion. Were they just being nice, or is it something else entirely?

Latter than that beromi was confused.

One of them, a muscular male with the same white wolf ears and a tail, approached Beromi holding a tray of meat and fruit. "Here you go, Sir Beromi."

"Thank you so much! I was starving," Beromi said as he grabbed the food and began eating like there was no tomorrow. Then Mia sat across from him by the fire.

"Mia, I've been meaning to ask what kind of mission would I be doing with all of you i mean i dont have huge mana pull," Beromi said.

Mia paused for a bit mid-chew and turned serious. "I guess I have to tell you everything."

After the food, Mia directed Beromi to go to a tent where he met two much older wolfkin. They all sat around a round table, putting on their serious faces.

"First, I would like to welcome our guest, Beromi the Exorcist. My name is Medra, the Second Commander, and this is my fellow brethren, Tula the thord commander, ," he said, gesturing to himself as a man in his thirties and to Tula, a woman younger but with an honorable face.

"Hello," Beromi said.

"Now let's begin," Mia said.

Soon after hours in the tent evening came, Beromi left with the others as it was getting late. In Beromi's mind, he could not help but strategize on what to do since hearing what he had heard.

So, in short, their explanation was that tomorrow was the day they would take back their land from a regional beast. There are three in each region, and defeating one would require a lot of power.

However, the one they were going to face is called the Ice Melavolent, a type of regional beast that mostly relies on physical combat. During their slumber, Beromi tries to create a new ability that is efficient enough to counter that in this thick snow.

The next morning was time; they had already packed up and were closing in on their target after just a few meters of walking.

"So that's the beast," Beromi said with a serious expression as he saw the beast sitting down, holding a large club in its right hand.

The ice malevolent was very large, approximately 20 feet tall, with a long white beard, muscular, pale skin, and blue glowing eyes. It had a white pallet to cover itself below.

With caution, the wolf kin positioned themselves, then with a loud "go," they leaped into action.

First, they surrounded the large beast at their greatest speeds, putting their palms against one another, facing them forward, and casting a shielding spell (hexagon-shaped). Mia then commanded the first strikers to engage, but as a total of 15 wolf kin sprinted forward towards the beast with spears and blades in hand, Beromi realized something—something was wrong. "Wait, why is it not moving... crap!"

Although before he could warn them that it was a trap, the beast awoke, and with a quick swipe of its enormous club, five were now killed. The snow was scattered everywhere. It engaged with another attack, but this time it hit the ground so very hard it sent a vertical shockwave of snow towards where Beromi was settled. Mia and Beromi dodged at the last second before it hit and skidded to land on their two feet.

"Everyone, get behind me!" Beromi yelled as they did as he said. The beast launched another attack; it took its club and, with a powerful horizontal swoop, propelled a large amount of rock and snow towards them it came at great speeds.

"Spirit reform: soul nullifier!" With that, he punched through the snow tsunami evaporating the impact. This act shocked and surprised the others, but Mia nodded in approval.

"Mia, cover me!" Beromi sprinted forward towards the beast. "RAAAAAAHHH!" The beast let out a loud roar, and as it closed in, it managed to hit Beromi with an upward slash to the spine, sending him flying into the clouds.

"He was defeated with one hit."

"Mia, are we going to lose?"

"I'm not so sure about that," Mia replied.

In the skies, now that Beromi was above the clouds, he made a swift movement, spining and then threw a talisman above him and landing on it upside down with a single leg. Then he launched himself downward with a very powerful force, scattering the clouds in the process.

They all looked up as they saw Beromi coming down to the beast at full speed like a cannon.

"What's he doing?"

"Everyone, form a circle around the beast! Make sure that you activate your force field spells, including the combat team," Mia said, and they hurried around with swift movements.

Beromi's fists were locked and ready as he came at full speed. The beast tried to counter this attack. "Oh no, you don't! Spirit reform: absolute zero!" The beast froze in place, and with a last breath, Beromi made direct contact, creating a huge impact that resulted in a massive snowy explosion, pushing some of the wolf kin back by the shockwave.

All this happened within 15 seconds from the time he initiated the attack.

"Sir Beromi, are you alright?" Mia asked as she ran to the large crater that Beromi had created. The dust cleared, and she saw Beromi walking out of the crater towards them, exhausted. The beast, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found; it was as if he had evaporated it with a single punch.

"You did well, Sir Beromi," Mia said.

"Yeah, thanks, but what about your dead comrades?" Beromi replied.

"No need to worry; we will give them a respectful memorial after we rebuild this land," Mia assured him.

"I see, that's good," Beromi said.

After a while of celebrating their victory and mourning the dead, they began to rebuild their home.

Beromi walks around the newly built village and sees some of the wolf kin gossiping about him with very innocent smiles.

"You should not let Sir Beromi know; it's a surprise."

"Is that him?"

"I'm so excited!"

Then Beromi approaches Mia outside her house. "Mia, what's going on?"

Mia snaps her fingers, and all the wolf kin move in front of him, kneeling on the ground with a hand on their chests. "Sir Beromi, no, Lord Beromi, we have discussed some things, and we want you to become our leader, since you are the one who brought back our village."

"Huh?"

"Please accept; we cannot find anyone capable. Please!"

Beromi catches a quick glance and sees the other wolf kin giving him some puppy dog eyes. "Damn... they are forceful," thought Beromi.

"Fine, since you saved me from starving to death, I will become your leader," Beromi says.

The wolf kin turned to enjoyment and happiness by his response, with some children wolf kin jumping onto him with a hug. "They are so soft; I can get used to this," Beromi thought.

After all that was prepared and organized, the next day Mia and Beromi were walking alone to the hole that was created in the fight.

"Lord Beromi, you said you sensed something here. Was it another enemy?" Mia asked.

"Well, since I got a little stronger from that fight, my spirit sense also got stronger too so now im able to detect things much further than a simple cave," Beromi replied.

"Oh, I see," Mia said.

Then, as he took one look in the hole, one blink; he found himself in an enclosed and spacious room made of stone and decorated walls, and in direct view in front of him was a large humanoid male wearing a blindfold, with a long, dread-grey robe.

Beromi soon realized that he was sent alone. "Well, I guess my suspicions were right."he said with a grin.

"A human.A human?..... It has been long since I have seen one of you creatures. Well, my name is Areaca, the Dungeon....M-a-s-t-e-r," Areaca said with a mischievous grin.
