Asuriel woke up in the morning feeling infinitely better than the day before. Elara had dutifully tended to her all night, feeding Asuriel the potions she had made.

Morning light filtered through the arched windows, casting a warm blanket onto Asuriel's spot on the sofa. When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Vaerion. He was sitting in an armchair with his head resting on his hand, and Asuriel thought he looked like he was dozing off.

"You're awake," he spoke in a deep, tired voice, proving Asuriel wrong.

Asuriel sat herself upright and looked at him thoughtfully, "I am."

"How do you feel? You don't look as terrible." Vaerion straightened his posture and returned her gaze.

"Wow, thanks," she chuckled bitterly. "I feel a lot better."
