"What!!! He is dead?" Jae Hwan shouted.
"What do you mean he's dead? I have a lot of questions to ask!" Min joon said with disappointment on his face.
Chief glared at him, annoyed. "Stop shouting! You guys have already caused enough problems. Min Joon, drop your 'mysterious man' story and focus on serious cases. I have a new case for you." He handed Min Joon a file. "You have one week to crack it. Understand?"
Min Joon smirked. "Two days are enough."
Chief raised an eyebrow, fed up. "Do you think you have time for show-offs? Fine, you have two days. And find the family members of this man and inform them about his death." He stormed off, still visibly annoyed.
Min Joon turned to Jae Hwan. "Three women were killed in their homes on Saturday between 8:00 and 9:00. All were strangled to death." He glanced at the file.
Let's go and check the crime scene tomorrow.
Jae hwan nodded.
At the first victim's house, Min Joon began analyzing the scene. "This woman was divorced."
Jae Hwan raised an eyebrow. "How do you know? She just moved in, and nobody knows if she was married or not."
Min Joon pointed to a ripped photo in a frame. "She's dressed as a bride. She kept the picture but removed her husband." He gestured to the furniture. "And look at the mismatched pieces. A mix of old and new or second-hand items can indicate the absence of a male partner."
Jae Hwan nodded, impressed. "You're right. What about the incomplete portrait she was working on?"
Min Joon smiled. "Exactly. There's no other painting material, as if she wanted to change herself. And notice the self-care items – scented candles, essential oils, and a yoga mat."
Jae Hwan examined the closet. "It's half-empty. Does that mean...?"
Min Joon nodded. "A reduced wardrobe or empty spaces in closets can hint at a partner's departure."
"So, how is this related to the case?" Jae Hwan asked, confusion etched on his face.
"We'll know after examining the other victims' houses," Min Joon replied.
Min Joon and Jae Hwan walked back to the watchman's station, determined to unravel the mystery.
They approached the watchman, who was still visibly shaken. "I went to the bathroom around 7:30. When I returned, I heard a scream. I rushed to the house and found her...like that."
Min Joon's eyes narrowed. "Did you notice anything unusual that night?"
The watchman hesitated before pointing to the CCTV cameras near the front door. "We have cameras, but..."
Min Joon's gaze locked onto the watchman. "But what?"
"The electricity went out that night. We don't have footage of the incident but the house across the street has CCTV cameras.
Let's go."
At the neighboring house, they obtained the footage and began reviewing it. The electricity outage occurred at 7:32, just as the watchman claimed. As they continued watching, they saw the watchman leave for the bathroom. Later, a technician arrived at 7:58.
Jae Hwan's eyes widened. "He's still inside!"
Min Joon's expression turned grim. "We have our suspect."Lets go to the other victims houses for further information.
They visited the others victim houses. As expected they turned out to be divorced as well.
Is that man killing them because they are divorced? Jae hwan asked with confusion.
Well it doesn't look like coincidence though. You ask around and find out if there are any more divorced women in this area.
Yes captain!
Captain! There are three women. How are we supposed to know who he will attack tomorrow(Saturday).
Well..he will attack the 29 year old woman.Min joon said with confidence.
29 year old? Jae hwan asked with confusion.
Well according to the file the women who died were aged as 26,27,28.So the next victim will be 29 years old.
Well no one among them is 29 though. One is 26 while the other two Li yoo-ah and Kim Ha neul are 28.Jae hwan said.
How can it be? I am pretty sure the next victim should be 29.Anyway keep watch on them and i well ask surveillance unit as well.
Min Joon and Jae Hwan waited anxiously in the surveillance unit room, eyes fixed on the CCTV feeds. "It's 7:30," Jae Hwan whispered, tension creeping into his voice.
Min Joon's gaze remained steady. "Everyone, stay alert."
Suddenly, the electricity at Kim Ha Neul's house flickered out.
"Captain, we've got our next victim!" Jae Hwan exclaimed.
Min Joon's eyes narrowed. "Too soon...this isn't what I predicted."
The electrician appeared on camera, and Min Joon's team rushed to Kim Ha Neul's house. They burst through the open door, and the electricity flickered back to life.
Kim Ha Neul sat calmly on the couch, she was well dressed and texting on her phone. She looked up, startled, as Min Joon and Jae Hwan approached.
"W-who are you?" she stammered.
Jae Hwan flashed his badge. "Police. Sorry for the intrusion."
Min Joon's eyes scanned the room, his mind racing. "Where's the electrician?"
Kim Ha Neul's expression changed. "Oh, you mean my boyfriend? He's downstairs, working."
Min Joon's eyes locked onto Jae Hwan. "Let's go."
Downstairs, they found the electrician, who seemed genuinely puzzled by their presence.
As they apologized and left, Min Joon's expression turned grim. "Why was the electricity restored so quickly?"
Jae Hwan frowned. "And why did Kim Ha Neul seem so calm?"
Min Joon's eyes narrowed. "We're missing something. Ask Kim Ha Neul more questions."
Jae Hwan nodded and returned to Kim Ha Neul's side. "Ma'am, can you tell us more about your boyfriend?"
Why are you so dressed up? Min joon said while interrupting Jae hwan.
Kim Ha Neul smiled. "We're going to my friend's birthday party tonight."
Can you tell us the name of your friend?
Ooh! Her name is Li yoo-ah.
Min Joon's eyes snapped toward Jae Hwan, his face pale. "Li Yoo Ah...she's the real target."
Jae Hwan's eyes widened. "She would be 29 years old now!!"
Min Joon sprinted out of the house. "We're running out of time."
