Chapter 5 - Elementless

Hearing Mr Patrick's calling, Alvin paused for a moment and raised his head. Mr Patrick was waving his hand with a gentle smile.

With a nod, Alvin put his backpack on the floor and walked toward the crystal ball. He had a mixed feeling of excitement and a little bit of nervousness as he walked there. On one hand, he was curious about the cloud, on the other hand, he wasn't quite sure what the cloud was.

At the moment, most of the parents went back home. In the hall, there were only a few people, which were Mr. Patrick, Mr Alex, and two other families.

Standing in front of the crystal ball, Alvin extended his hand and held the crystal ball. Observing the crystal ball at a close distance, Alvin found out that the crystal ball was constantly interacting with the surrounding elements.

Once Alvin held the crystal ball firmly, Alex started the awakening process. Alex summoned his cloud. A flow of cloud energy flowed from Alex to the crystal ball, activating the crystal ball.

Instantly, Alvin felt that the crystal ball was drawing magic energy through his hand. A strong white light illuminated the hall It was the brightest light today. Everyone moved their gaze to Alvin's hand.

Seeing the bright light, Alvin was shocked. The next second, a cloud was formed on his hand. It was a very solid cloud. He raised his head and looked at Alex. He wanted to know his cloud energy level.

"Level 10 cloud energy?!" Alex exclaimed when he saw the cloud. He was surprised that he would encounter a level 10 awakening in such a small village.

"Level 10?!" Hearing what Alex said, Mr Patrick's eyes widened with surprise.

"Wow, level 10!" One of the kids said, his eyes filled with enviousness.

Hearing that, Alvin gazed at his cloud, musing. So this is the cloud. And the cloud energy is my magic energy? Although the naming was different, it seemed like the way to interact with magic energy was the same.

"Finally, I found 1 cloud holder. A level 10 cloud holder " Alex muttered. He had been traveling to 4 villages, Alvin was the only one who fulfilled the entry requirement, which is at least level 4 cloud energy.

After pausing for a moment, Alvin heard Alex ask him for the second test, the elemental test.

Alvin nodded his head and walked to the center of the 6 gems.

"Now, kid, focus on your cloud, try to communicate with gems." Alex looked at Alvin and said.

Mr Patrick who was standing nearby was gazing at Alvin and the gems, hoping that Alvin could have some elemental potential.

5 minutes later. Nothing happened, no shimmering light on the 6 gems.

Alvin frowned. He could feel the element in the air, but it seemed like his cloud couldn't interact with the element.

"Haizzzz, no element potential. It is an elementless cloud." Alex sighed. At first, he thought that he found a genius, but now he found out Alvin didn't have any elemental potential. Alex never sees any strong cloud holder with no elemental potential.

In his view, the furthest Alvin could go in life was being a normal cloud holder, because all the powerful cloud holders were the ones with elemental potential.

"But he still fulfilled the cloud holder entry requirement, right?" Noticing Alex's sad expression, Mr Patrick said. He knew that Alvin got a level 10 cloud energy, which is the highest level during awakening. Even if Alvin didn't have an element cloud, Alvin was still able to become a cloud holder.

"Ya, he did pass the entry requirement. The sad thing is he awakened a level 10 cloud without any element in the cloud. Without an elemental cloud, this boy won't be able to learn powerful skills." Alex looked at Patrick and said.

Alex turned his head and looked at Alvin. He sighed slightly. He didn't want to explain more, but he felt sorry for Alvin's case.

"Although you don't have the elemental cloud. You still passed the entry requirement of the cloud academy. Here is your badge as a cloud holder. You can use it to enroll in any cloud academy." Alex smiled at Alvin and gave him a white color badge.

"Ok, thank you, Mr Alex." Alvin took the badge and nodded his head. On the badges, there was a cloud symbol.

...

On the way back, Mr Patrick was grinning. Finally, after three years, there was a cloud holder in the village. He was happy that Alvin became a cloud holder.

"Alvin, do you want to go to the cloud academy and be a cloud holder?" Mr Patrick asked

Hearing that, Alvin paused and thought about it. The scene of Alex using the cloud came to his mind.

"ya, I want to go. But why does Mr Alex say the element is important? What is the relationship between the cloud and element?" "After musing for a while, Alvin nodded and said. He was interested in the cloud, he was also curious about how people interact with elements using cloud.

"You can learn it in school" Patrick grinned and said. Patrick knew that the cloud was a deep subject on its own. He believed it was better for Alvin to learn it properly in school

"Alvin, don't worry. Go ahead and join the academy." Patrick squatted down, holding Alvin's shoulder, maintaining his eye level as Alvin's eyes.

"Cloud is something shapeable. Maybe you are born with no element, but that doesn't mean you won't have it in the future. Your cloud is like a white paper. If there is no color, you can paint your own color. The greatest person in the world is not the one who is born with everything, it is the one who is born with nothing and ends up having everything."

Alvin gazed at Mr Patrick and gave him a nod.

"Alvin, get ready, learn as much as you can in the academy," Patrick said with a bright smile. He was happy that Alvin, a kid that he took care of, might has a bright future.
