"You're back?! What kind of back? Transmigration or Cross-world?"
"It's Cross-world, so please help me here, I need your help to do something." Reynald, who was on the other side of the phone, chuckled and reminded him, "Sure, sure. Where are you? I'll be quick." Nick bobbed his head up and down like a chicken.
After providing the details, Nick swiftly turned around and opened the door behind him, entering in the same manner as he had opened the door, startling those inside. "Slow down, Nickolas. I know I told you to hurry up, but not that fast." Seated at the front end of the long, rectangular table, an arrogant sounding and looking man sneered as he looked at the rushing Nick. Those who were at his side laughed awkwardly and haphazardly, seemingly forced to laugh along the man.
"Don't care, not listening, sending my resignation letter later!" Nickolas rapidly replied, catching everyone off-guard. Picking up his briefcase that was placed at the bottom of his seat at the end of the table, he quickly turned to leave, but not without saying in a cheery mood, "I'll be sending men to pick all of my stuff later, so no need to worry about paying to move my things. See you never, you nose-picking nepo-baby!" He then raised a peace sign as he left the gaped-mouth employees inside the room.
Moments later, his head peered into the room. He then spoke as-a-matter-of-fact, "Since I'm leaving, I can now speak truthfully. Your idea is trash, and the only reason they approved your proposal is because your too petty by involving your father in pressuring the board to accept it. It wouldn't even bring as much profit as the convenience store that my old neighbor established. That's it. Buh-bye!" He then rushed out, not letting the haughty man retort.
After fetching his suit from his personal table, he briskly walked to the elevator, down to the ground floor of the building, then hurried out. Pulling out his car keys from his pocket, he unlocked his black SUV that was parked on the side by pressing the button on the remote and immediately opened the door, threw his bag and suit in the back, and entered. Turning on the engine, he sped away from the building to the meeting place they've established.
Inside a coffee shop, Reynald sat patiently with a cup of coffee in his hands beside a glass wall, waiting for Nick to come. Out of all his quantifiable friends in this world, only Nickolas would be wise enough to talk to when it comes to his plan. Also considering the fact that only Nickolas knows what he's truly gone to, he would be the only person acceptable for this job.
Soon, a black SUV came to a screeching halt beside the store. Looking at the passenger-side window that was rolled down, Reynald immediately recognized the man. Raising his hand slightly, Reynald caught the attention of the man, who came rushing swiftly into the shop.
Rrriiing! The wind chimes sounded as the top of the glass door passed through it. "Welcome!" The cashier greeted, but Nickolas couldn't care less as he ran and hugged Reynald, "Big Boss!" He shouted with glee, startling the other customers who were peacefully drinking their coffee.
Reynald also know this, so he quickly patted Nickolas' back and pushed him, "Sit down and don't be too noisy!" He whisper-shouted at him.
The man, realizing what he's doing, quickly looked around and bowed incessantly at all of them, "Sorry, sorry, I'm really sorry." He then turned to the cashier and greeted back, "Good afternoon. Sorry for the disturbance."
"I-It's okay, sir. Don't worry." The cashier smiled awkwardly and waved her hands to dismiss him. "I'll have a venti White Chocolate Coffee, three shots of espresso, and boba." He walked towards her and ordered.
"He'll pay for my drink too." Reynald said on the side. "Eh?" Nickolas looked back with a dumbfounded look before coming to his senses, "Yes, yes, I'll pay for his too."
The cashier smiled and nodded, "Will do." She then took out a golden necklace from beneath the counter and handed it to Nickolas, who was bewildered upon receiving it. "The man over there used this as collateral for ordering the drink. He said that if the man that's paying does not arrive here, we can take the necklace as payment." She explained. Nodding in understanding, Nickolas returned to their table and sat at the chair opposite to Reynald.
"What's wrong? You're awfully silent." Reynald spoke, breaking the silence.
"Are you insane?" Nickolas leaned in, glared, and whispered to Reynald, "Why are you using such precious jewelry to purchase a simple cup of coffee?"
With a raised eyebrow, Reynald scoffed with a smile on his face, "That's what you're concerned about? I just used it as a collateral. You're still the one paying for it."
"Eishh." Nickolas scowled and glared at him up and down. "So, you haven't been texting me for two weeks already. What's new with you?" Reynald asked.
"Annoying problem at the company." Nickolas clicked his tongue, "Someone used their connections to force a project into fruition. I had to endure sleepless nights just to try and fix the problem, only to be turned down by that shitty little cock-face." He spat with overflowing annoyance.
He then looked at Reynald and said while grinning ear to ear, "Your timing was right on time. I was about to explode while hearing him talk about his quote-end-quote grand plan to my colleagues who are also visibly seething. If it weren't for you, I would've already been convicted of assault."
"As soon as you told me you're here, I immediately resigned from my post and said goodbye to the stress and potential death that was looming in the crannies of that damnable office." Reynald almost laughed out loud while listening to him rant, "Why did you resign? What if I can't support you here? Wouldn't you have wasted your job?"
"Nah." Nickolas waved his hand, saying, "Even if you can't support me, I would've been able to find another job that pays equal or more than that place. I'm just that talented." He smiled with a confident look while stroking his well-kempt beard.
"But you can support me, right?" Startling Reynald, Nickolas suddenly leaned in closer to him and asked with pleading eyes. Reynald chuckled and nodded, patting the relieved man on the shoulder.
