The Truth About Emma
Dani sat near the fire, its warm glow casting flickering shadows on the walls of the cave. Emma lay beside him, her golden eyes half-closed as she rested. The survivors were busy preparing the meat, their quiet murmurs filling the air.
Dani's gaze drifted to Emma. Something about her had been bothering him—the way the system had reacted when he named her, the way she had so easily accepted him as her companion.
Curiosity got the better of him. Activating his Mind's Eye, he focused on Emma.
[Analyzing...]
The usual stream of information didn't appear immediately. Instead, a strange message blinked in his vision:
[Error. Data inaccessible.]
Dani frowned. "What?" He tried again, concentrating harder.
This time, the system flickered and hesitated before a flood of information appeared:
[Creature: Emma]
Rank: L (Legendary)
Power: Max
Agility: Max
Endurance: Max
Intelligence: Max
Skills: ???
Weaknesses: Current injury.Bond with Dani.
Dani's breath caught in his throat. "Legendary...?"
He stared at Emma, who shifted slightly under his gaze but didn't seem bothered. The revelation hit him like a thunderbolt. A nine-tailed fox was already an extraordinary creature, but to be ranked Legendary—L rank—placed her in a league of her own.
The Weakness
His eyes lingered on the final line: Weaknesses: Bond with Dani.
"What does that even mean?" he muttered under his breath.
Emma's ears twitched, and she opened one eye to look at him. For a moment, it felt as though she understood his thoughts, her gaze filled with an intelligence far beyond any ordinary creature.
"Why me?" Dani whispered. "Why would you let someone like me tame you?"
Emma didn't respond, of course, but the question lingered in his mind. If the bond was her weakness, then it meant she trusted him completely—a level of trust that made him feel both honored and uneasy.
