Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: The Mountain

A few weeks later, Renly secretly escorted the first payment of compensation and the Mountain back to King's Landing.

At the same time, a shocking piece of news spread across the country: The Queen and King had an argument and returned to Casterly Rock, where she had another heated argument with her father, Tywin Lannister. Overcome with grief, Cersei pushed the three princes and princesses off a cliff hundreds of meters high near Casterly Rock, then followed them, jumping into the sea herself.

Fishermen from Lannisport discovered the four bodies. Since they had swollen and were badly damaged, Tywin had the bodies cremated by the port, then locked himself away in Casterly Rock with his two sons.

Wright accompanied Nymeria and Tyene to the Red Keep dungeons to confirm the Mountain. Renly stood at the dungeon door, behind him was his attendant Loras Tyrell. The dungeon had already been illuminated by the magic light spell Renly had released.

Nymeria was carefully inspecting: "Based on the information, the size and appearance, this is Gregor Clegane, the Mountain."

Wright said, "I've seen him in Casterly Rock before. It's him."

The Mountain sat on the floor, his arms and legs shackled by iron chains attached to the wall, looking like he was on the verge of death.

Tyene noticed something was off about the Mountain. Seeing him motionless on the floor, she stepped closer to observe, fearing he might die on the way to Dorne, and decided to try a healing spell.

The Mountain looked up and saw a fragile, blonde woman approaching. Judging by her attire and her connection to Wright, she seemed to be of noble birth. Suddenly, he lunged forward, grabbing at Tyene with both hands.

"Ah!" Tyene screamed in fear, releasing a burst of blue smoke from her mouth, then stepped back.

The Mountain, seeing the smoke, held his breath. His outstretched arms made contact with the smoke, and instantly, he felt his strength drain from his hands. The iron chains linking him to the wall didn't break.

Nymeria shouted, "Don't touch my woman!" She quickly stepped forward and kicked the Mountain in the back of his knee. The Mountain fell to one knee, and Nymeria drew a short knife from her waist, slashing at his hand. With both hands chained together and no strength to dodge, both of his palms were severed and fell to the floor.

Wright and Renly stood unmoving, not perceiving any real danger. Even if the Mountain had grabbed Tyene, the two of them could have killed him without harming Tyene.

The Mountain gritted his teeth in pain but remained silent. He attempted to move toward Nymeria again, but as soon as he shifted, he collapsed onto the ground, gasping for air, his face turning blue.

"Did you hide poison in your mouth?" Wright stepped in front of Tyene and looked down at her mouth.

"No!"

"Open your mouth and show me."

"Ah\~\~\~" Tyene opened her mouth, and Wright saw only her neat teeth and red lips, no sign of any poison.

Renly tensed as he watched, thinking, Only my brother could handle a woman full of poison like this.

Loras Tyrell also felt uneasy. People were indifferent to severed limbs and bloodshed, but the thought that this woman was hiding poison all over her body made his skin crawl.

Nymeria walked over and said, "Let's go. This poison won't kill him. Tomorrow, I'll write a letter to Prince Doran and have him send someone to escort the Mountain back to Dorne for trial."

"Let's have Prince Doran send a ship to Storm's End," Renly suggested. "We can send the Mountain there first, saving time." As they left the dungeon, Renly had already arranged the Mountain's journey. No one paid attention to the Mountain still twitching in the dungeon.

To prevent the Mountain from revealing the shameful story of being sold by Tywin, his tongue had already been cut out. Renly had been pondering how to prevent the Mountain from writing, but with Nymeria cutting off his hands and the poison paralyzing him, things were much easier now.

Nymeria and Tyene went to the magic school to write the letter to Prince Doran in Dorne.

Wright and Renly stayed in the Red Keep dungeon, speaking near where the dragon skulls were kept.

One of them cast a magic light spell, and the other cast a silence spell. They coordinated effortlessly.

"Did Tywin really execute all four of them?" Wright asked.

"I was standing right there when they cremated the bodies in Lannisport."

"Did you confirm it was Cersei and the three children?"

Renly thought for a moment. "They all had golden hair, and their heights matched Cersei and the three children. Their faces were similar too, but when the bodies were pulled from the sea, they were swollen and chewed up by fish. It was only possible to recognize them roughly. After that, Tywin burned the bodies at the port, and the ashes are now in the Lannister family tomb in Casterly Rock."

"Did you see them jump into the sea?" Wright asked again.

Renly now realized something. "I didn't. I had people from House Lannister with me, and we only learned of it when the fishermen found the bodies. Could there be a problem?"

"There's definitely a problem! Do you think Cersei would have committed suicide, given her personality?" Wright, with his experience from two lifetimes, asked this, while Renly, only sixteen and sheltered from too much intrigue, hadn't yet grasped the implications.

"And most people from the Westerlands have golden hair. It would be easy for Tywin to find four people with similar builds. If they were truly dead, he would have wiped out their entire families, and we'd have no way of investigating further."

"So, those four didn't die?" Renly asked, his voice filled with panic.

Wright comforted him, "At least, officially, the four are dead. From now on, they'll have to live under new names. We can't find any evidence now; the bodies were burned, and the families of the four will never be found. House Lannister will never admit to it."

Westeros was as large as present-day South America. If Cersei and the others had magic, it would be easier — Wright could sense it within a few hundred meters, and there would be a slight chance of tracking them down. But these four were ordinary people, and there was no way to sense them. Finding them would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Even wizards were not omnipotent.

"It's done. Let it go. Don't blame yourself. With Cersei's mindset, she wouldn't have been able to raise those kids to be anything remarkable anyway," Wright said, as he and Renly walked out of the dungeon. The two were preparing for their journey and the arrangements for the school.

---

Wright's journey would begin with a boat trip from King's Landing, heading north to White Harbor in the North. From there, he would travel along the river to Winterfell, and then continue north to the Wall. After finishing his business, he would return by the same route to Dragonstone, then head south to Dorne. From there, he would travel east to the Essos continent from the Stepstones.

At the King's Landing port, the Onion Knight, Davos Seaworth, and his sons were busy on a merchant ship. He had been tasked by Stannis to sail Wright all the way to Dorne. After that, Wright would hire another ship to head east. There were also several fur coats, gloves, hats, and other items sent by Robert that needed to be loaded onto the ship.

The journey would be made by Wright, his wife Nymeria, and Tyene. Though they were already married, Wright and the two had agreed to wait until their return from the journey to have children. Both had thought it would be troublesome to bring a child on the adventure and had agreed to postpone it.

Ashara, carrying two swords on her back, agilely climbed up the ship's mast. She was in the prime of her youth and full of energy. This time, she would also travel to the North to meet Eddard, though she still didn't know that Eddard was her father.

The group traveled on a single merchant ship north. Wright's brother Stannis, as Master of Ships, commanded the royal fleet. Several warships accompanied them for the entire journey, and the sea voyage was uneventful.

When they stopped at Dragonstone for supplies, Stannis's daughter, Shireen Baratheon, gave Wright a stuffed bear as a gift.
