Synopsis
Lia Carter, a successful event planner, returns to her coastal hometown of Clearwater Bay to help her best friend, Caroline, plan a lavish wedding. It’s been five years since she left, but the town still holds echoes of her past—especially Ethan Rivers, her first love. Their relationship ended in heartbreak, with words unspoken and wounds left to fester. When they unexpectedly cross paths at a charity gala, the past comes rushing back. Ethan, now a successful architect, hasn’t forgotten Lia, and neither has she forgotten him. The spark between them is undeniable, but old hurts and unresolved feelings make reconnecting difficult. Forced to work together on Caroline’s wedding, Lia and Ethan are thrown into each other’s lives again. Their chemistry is undeniable, but so are the ghosts of their past. Ethan wants to make things right, but Lia is hesitant to trust him again. As they navigate their strained interactions, both begin to realize that the breakup wasn’t just about love—it was about their own fears, insecurities, and the ways they hurt each other without fully understanding why. As they face the truth of what ended their relationship and explore the ways they’ve both grown, they must decide if they can rebuild what they once had—or if they’re destined to repeat the mistakes of the past. Can love truly be rekindled, or will the echoes of their former selves keep them from moving forward?

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Return to Cleanwater Bay

Lia Carter inhaled the salty tang of the ocean breeze as she rolled her suitcase down the cobblestone street of Clearwater Bay. The coastal town was just as she remembered—quaint shops with colorful awnings, locals waving to one another like it hadn't been years since she'd last visited.

And yet, stepping back here felt like treading into a memory she wasn't ready to relive.

"Lia!" her best friend, Caroline, squealed, rushing out of The Sweet Spot Bakery with flour still dusting her apron. "I've missed you so much!"

Caroline enveloped her in a hug that nearly knocked the air out of her. Lia laughed, the weight of her anxiety momentarily lifting.

"Missed you too. Ready to become Mrs. Perfect?"

"Ugh, please. Just help me make it through this wedding without becoming a bridezilla," Caroline joked.

But Lia wasn't just here to help her best friend. She was here to escape the chaos of city life—and maybe figure out why she felt so untethered lately.
