Chereads / Airon: Wizard Trials of A.veli / Chapter 3 - The invitation

Chapter 3 - The invitation

"Hello, did you read my message?" As I started waking up, I could hear my mother in the background. It's reassuring, whatever it was that I felt didn't kill me.

What the hell was that earlier, it said I was registered as contestant #10 So does that mean I wasn't the first? How many more are gonna be playing in the tournament besides 10 people?

It also said something about being the apprentice of "Sage of the Great Flame" shouldn't it be the wizard though? Is that who he really is but who the hell was that robot. Maybe they were all made by the wizard but how? Was it magic?

"Yes, he did just pass out. It looked like he was overheating so I put some Ice on top of him but they just started melting." She must be talking to somebody on the phone but who? "Okay see you when you get here, be safe."

Wait was my body really that hot, last thing I remember before I passed out was the energy from. It must've been because of the mark but it looks like there's no turning back now. I wouldn't anyway.

"Airon! You're up!" I was so lost in thought I didn't realize my eyes were already open.

"Yes, I am. How long was I out for?"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah I am. I was probably still tired but I'm fine now. I feel much better."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes Ma' I'm sure. There's absolutely nothing wrong with me."

"Alright." Her gaze is awfully soft, she worries about me a lot.

And I can't blame her, of course she would, she's my mother. But I know that's not the only reason, what happened just now was sudden and unexpected like what happened to my brother. She must've been worried like hell.

"Is the food still there?"

"Yeah it's on the counter in the kitchen. I covered it for you."

"Thanks Ma, I'm gonna go eat it and then take a shower."

"Alright." She said although she kept watching my every move.

"Ma' trust me, I'm good. I'm just gonna eat something and take a shower."

"I believe you, I believe you. I'm just here coincidentally." She threw her hands up and started looking off to the side, making it obvious she's lying but then again I don't mind.

After I ate my mother was still checking on me, she used a thermometer to check my temperature. For some reason my temperature is over 150 but I feel completely normal.

"Ma' trust, I don't feel like crap or anything." I kept pushing the thermometer away. "Actually I feel like I could run a couple marathons."

"Don't lie to me, your insides are melting." She's getting way too dramatic.

"I'm still alive and conscious, trust me. I seriously doubt I'm melting."

"You know what!" Mom just snatched her hand back. "If you wanna die than that's on you. It's your life." She's frustrated….

*Knock knock* Thank god someone is at the front door.

"I'm gonna get the door." She waved her hand without even looking my way. Like she was dismissing me. "Don't act like that Ma, I promise you I'm fine. The thermometer is probably broken if I was that hot, I would've been feeling it already." I explained as I walked over to the front door.

"Whatever." She still isn't even looking my way, just staring at the thermometer.

"Oh well." I said under my breath as I looked through the peephole.

"What the hell is she doing here… Oh shit I completely forgot."

*clik clak clink* "Heyyy Stella-" Suddenly I felt nervous, entrapped by her beautiful eyes, I can't bring myself to look away. It was as if I was looking into space itself.

" *gasp* Are you okay? Your mom told me you passed out." Her voice was what you'd imaging peace to sound like.

"Yes I'm alright. I was just tired but I'm alright. Did my mother call you over?"

"Yeah she did. She sounded worried, I thought you were dying." She hugged me tightly, I could feel her arms trembling.

"I'm sorry to worry you like that but I promise you, I'm good." I hugged her as tight as possible.

"They worry about me sooo much, how can I tell them about the tournament, how would they even react?" I questioned myself.

Next we headed to the kitchen and my mom forced me to show her my temperature and after seeing hiw high it was. Stella was also worried once she found out about my temperature and decided we would just stay in my apartment so she could make sure I rest.

We just talked and caught up for three days we were away from each other. I missed her a lot so those three days felt like weeks. And as we talked, the day flew over our heads so fast, night had already fixed without us even noticing.

This moment felt like I was in a different dimension, one only her and I are able to visit. However she had to go to work in the morning so we decided to get some rest or at least try to.

*Yawn* Upon opening my eyes, I'm blessed with the feeling of our naked bodies embracing eachother.

"You up, Saint?" Even though Stella is her name, she looks so beautiful and peaceful whenever she's asleep. It reminds me of a snake.

"Hmm." She squeezed my body tightly even though she was barely awake.

I decided to just reach over her, and grab my phone to check the time…. "Oh shit."

"Whuut hap-" I think she's sleep talking now.

"It's 11:25. Don't you need to go in at 2?"

"Mmhmm."

"You need to take a shower before-" She quickly let go of me and lied on her back.

"Ugghhhh, why can't my job just explode." She dragged her words in an irritated tone.

"Wouldn't you be out of a job then?" As I said this she just glared at me before sitting up.

"Do you have work today?"

"No, I'm off today and tomorrow. I could take more days off burn rather just keep working."

"That's good." Her voice softened as if she had finally woke up.

"Yeah, I guess."

"No it is, you work too much, it's good that you finally took a break. Even if it was for a little." Saint said before she turned to give me a kiss on my lips. "I'm gonna go take a shower." She said after and got up to grab a towel from my closet to take a shower.

As I heard the sound of the door close, the thoughts in my head began to flood. I'm confused on how to tell them. "They don't even notice the mark on my arm."

About an hour later Stella finally got out of the shower, after she got ready for work, we ate the breakfast my mom left for us earlier. Then she left on her way to work.

"There's only one more day to tell them. Out of all things, I'm struggling with this." I said as I walked back to my room after cleaning the dishes.

Sadly all I could do was think about what I should do, while laying in bed. I ended up sleeping until later in the evening. 7:50 PM, my mom had already came home a couple hours ago. So when I woke up, a strong aroma crept into my room and crawled into my nose.

*Yawned* But I couldn't even ponder that smell. "I'm still tired, I feel so exhausted for some reason." As I felt another wave of drowsiness before I knew it, I had fallen asleep again.

"I hope you've prepared." The Wizard's voice runged in my ears like bells, forcing me out of my sleep.

"I was in that same space-like place that I first met the Wizard at." As I thought of this, the Wizard was in front of me standing as if there was anything below his feet.

"What the hell!" I was surprised and a little pissed off at myself because I wasn't strong enough to tell them. "I'm not done!"

"I warned you, there is no going back. Unless you want to back out for good. Is that your wish?"

"No… I'm not going to back out."

I might've been imagining it but the wizard had a little smirk on his face.

"Good, then I advise you to listen carefully to these words I lay unto you." The wizard said as he tapped the bottom of his staff on the place he seemed to be standing on.

Creating a ripple like effect as if the space beneath him was turned to a liquid. Then instantly after a small splatter of plain white began to corrode the entire space around us. Turning space into a complete white room as if all has been erased.

A scroll appeared in front of the Wizard. "The tournament will take place on a different planet, one that I made. Even though this isn't your world there are laws you must abide by, some are in tandem with the rules of the tournament."

"A world you created… but it's just white, and-" As I looked around all I saw was nothing, just an empty a white plain.

However small bubbles of light began to float. "It's like they're made by the white space itself." I said as I touched one of the bubbles and as my finger touched the bubble, a warm and pleasant sensation enveloped my body.

Then as that sensation wore off, the white plain started rumbling. This rumbling was unbelievably aggressive, it was enough to make me feel as if I had developed motion sickness.

"These are the heavens of AinVeil." His voice alone calmed the rumbling before a palace that was decorated in gold and white walls was erected behind him.

"I, Aveli, the last wizard of Cantainia, give thanks to thee for accepting my invitation. I welcome you to the Grand Tournament of Wizards."
