Chereads / Airon: Wizard Trials of A.Veli / Chapter 13 - Rewards and Currency

Chapter 13 - Rewards and Currency

We've finally made it back to the Guild. Grabbing the eyes of multiple people, who even had to cover their children's eyes from our "luggage". The city guards stopped us multiple times before we could even make it to the Guild. If it weren't for our Adventurer IDs than we would've been questioned by the military.

We were able to bring it to the Guild but the receptionist looked as if she saw a ghost, even the other adventurers and hunters were surprised by our large haul.

"Did you take all of them down yourself?" The receptionist was quite surprised by this feat. "I'm sorry, I didn't expect a whole goblin camp to be in the woods and that staff, the guild is gonna have to hold it for investigation…. *sigh* oh dear… " The receptionist seemed more stressed about the paperwork than anything else.

*Rinnggg* She tapped a bell on the desk a few taps as she slowly rubbed and caressed her forehead to ease whatever headache she was about to go through.

Two tall and burly men dressed in tuxedos came out from the room behind her and took the carriage and the Orc's body from outside to a large back door behind the guild.

"Please wait at the table and we'll bring your rewards to you. Keep in mind, the staff will be held and investigated by the military so it will not return to you as a reward, however you will receive money split equally among you. If that is not fine, I will call the guild master and you can talk about it with him." The receptionist explained politely, however her politeness itself was quite threatening.

"That is fine, thank you." Pultra said as she peeked over the counter.

We sat at a table and waited for our rewards to come, in the meantime we checked our Ranks and chatted amongst ourselves. I miraculously rose to E0 skipping the last three ranks. Pultra and Drole rose to D2 while Kayden rose to D3.

They all seemed happy with their new ranks besides me as I still have yet to understand the value of these ranks. However, taking out an entire 'Goblin Camp' gave us a substantial amount of levels. I don't understand how the leveling system works but for now I will assume it works similar to a video game.

"You know, this request seemed to be more than we originally thought. This wasn't any ordinary goblin hunting." Pultra said as she looked at a small menu of foods & beverages which was sitting on the table. "A magic staff and a necklace powered by the staff from to give the wearer stealth, a physical barrier, and enhanced physical strength."

"The goblins either killed a party before us or someone gave it to them. Either way those aren't things forest dwellers could just normally find." Drole added as he called over one of the maids.

(Forest dwellers refer to monsters such as goblins, orcs and other monsters that naturally inhabit the forest and woods.)

While waiting for the guild to calculate our reward, my party members ordered a few drinks and some food.

I don't have any money yet so Drole ordered something for me too, it was his way of giving "thanks" as I took care of the Orc's physical enhancements.

"Why don't we introduce ourselves to get comfortable with each other. I doubt our party will end after this. Right guys." Kayden asked. He was unbelievably friendly, given that we all only knew each other for a few days.

"I agree. After today's quest I'd say we show great promise. We could rise our ranks quickly." Pultra said as a maid came with our drinks and pastries.

"This is on the house as we wait to calculate your rewards. Please enjoy." The maid said as she bowed to us.

"Considering that quest is supposed to be above our ranks due to the monsters and their gear, I don't think we'll get a boost in our ranks like that again. I suggest that we share our magical attributes with each other to increase trust." Drole said as he grabbed his beer.

Trust… I agree that we need to trust each other some more. The reason I moved on my own back there was because they didn't know about my spells, however it seems that Phoenix has a lot of influence in the world.

Mater Flamme- "Hey, Airon. Are you down with that?" Kayden said as I was lost in thought.

"…Yeah, I am but I don't think we should do it here." For some reason I feel unwanted eyes intensely following us although we haven't even gotten our reward.

"Indeed… Low rank hunters and adventurers are treated worse by those with high ranks." Pultra said as she finished her wine. Quickly… "Ahhh." She let out as she slammed the glass on the table.

"We'll get our reward then we'll get out of here. I can feel them too, all those eyes on us aren't welcoming in the slightest." Kayden said as he sipped his wine.

In the meantime we talked about other topics, it wasn't hard for me to open up after I realized something which was that we are all in the same boat. Well me and Kayden are obviously but Pultra and Drole are also far from as they mentioned.

They are both from different continents so even to them the practices on this one is different.

A couple hours passed and finally our rewards came in the form of leather sacks filled with coins. There doesn't seem to be paper currency in this world, only coins.

Before we counted the coins we left as the eyes of the other adventurers and hunters were getting gradually viscous.

I could almost feel them drooling.

So we left the guild and headed to the inn where the party was staying in. However it seems that there are a few people following us.

We decided to take the routes which are heavily crowded. Apparently if you are in the lower rank such as E, D, and C, you are subject to bullying, extortion, etc by higher ranks.

It seems your physical appearance doesn't matter in this world so even if you're someone as big and burly as Droly, you aren't resistant to magic. Especially that of the high tier.

However since we are all foreigners to this kingdom, if the "stalkers" manage to do something in public they will be favored by the law. So it's best to avoid them even if we could defend ourselves.

Pultra summarized this perfectly for Kayden and I.

Luckily we were able to lose the stalkers even with Drole's height as we passed through the crowd. We quickly made it to the inn and headed up to Drole's room.

We all sat in a circle of each other, Kayden and Pultra sat on the bed while Drole and I sat across from each other.

"Hmm… you and Kayden are from the same country, correct?" Drole asked as he poured all of his coins on to the wooden desk.

"Yeah?" We answered simultaneously.

"Then you also don't know the currency of this kingdom right?" Drole asked as he separated 4 coins from the small pile of money.

"No I don't." I answered as I moved closer to the table.

"Well look closely. There are six different coins, they are called the Ainveill coins however at the moment I can only show you five which are good either way. We'll go from lowest value to highest.

Keep in mind, each kingdom has different types of currencies.

First is the copper coin, it's the smallest coin and isn't worth much.

Next is the nickel coin which is worth 50 copper coins.

Third is the silver coin which is worth about 150 nickel coins.

Fourth is the gold coin, this is the second most valuable coin which equals to about 400 silver coins but because of its high value it's rare and barely given out. Mostly Nobles and royals as well as high rank adventurers and hunters have these in abundance.

Then it's the Rhodium coin, it's the most valuable and rarest coin of all, worth 50 gold coins. Only royals have that one." Drole explained as he pulled all the coins together.

"Let's see, it seems we have 8 nickels, 14 Silvers, and 1 gold. That's quite the reward, it may be the highest since we started. With this you should be able to get decent equipment and still have some left over." Pultra said as she peeked over Drole's shoulders.
