When Lily seen the pile of bodies at the border outpost she got the sinking feeling that this was more then a message. It was a threat. Having traveled to several different territories there was always some kind of conflict happening or threat being issued. After finishing her education in holistic medicine she traveled to gain some experience and was in no rush to go back to the mansion of the royal wolf family. Having gained freedom in the last four years of university she felt no need to rush.
Traveling to the Dragon Clans territory to research more on various medical herbs she seen a couple of skirmishes on the way to an extensive library in their capital city. One of which she had mixed up in by mistake because she was a foreigner. However what happens to an innocent village was almost made her fault as it had been massacred with no one left alive.
A group of Darkling Dragons savagely rampaged the village killing everyone in sight. What was once a small peaceful village is now burnt to the ground with nothing but burnt corpse. There had been no provocation for this attack and by the time help had arrived everyone was dead and she had just walked up on the scene. The group of dragons were black, glowing a green aura and their eyes shine bright green as well before disappearing into the mountains on the other side of the village. The commander of the soldiers that showed up tackling her, tying her up forcing her to kneel on the ground on the soldiers command, "What happened here? How are you the only one alive?!"
The soldiers pushed her harder on the ground as they went through Lily's traveling pack. "Hey! I just walked up on this! I seen a group of black dragons that attacked here race to the other side of the village. They just ran up the mountains just a moment ago, if you hurry you'll catch them," She exclaimed. "You three! Head towards the mountains, see if they made their escape that way. You just walked up and what it was all burnt down. Why were you traveling to this village?" the commander asked her suspiciously. He was surprisingly handsome for someone so stoic with deep blue hair, matching eyes, and built for a fight. The three warriors left to check out village as the commander picked up my research book that I had been working on for the past four years.
Flipping through it he seemed interested in what was written down on the pages. "Did you do all this yourself?" he asked still looking through the book. "Yes I did and if you would be careful with it I would appreciate it. I've spent the last four years building up the knowledge in that book. It's also the reason why I traveled here," she huff hoping he would take her seriously. Carefully closing the book he placed it back in the pack with the rest of her things. The scouts came back saying, "There are fresh tracks leading up the mountains, but a thunder storm is about to hit we won't be able to go after them with their scents being washed away."
"Well it seems you were telling me the truth. So tell me whats a she-wolf like you doing in a place like this? The village wasn't well known and is in a very secluded area," the commander said releasing me then he reached his hand out to help me to my feet. If anything I was shocked he called me a she-wolf as I had no wolf. "I'm not a she-wolf and there's a rare flower in the mountains north of here that only blooms in the worst of storms and I had hoped to get there before the storm started, but with this happening I'll have to come back some other time," Lily said checking her pack.
Turning around the commander was talking to his next in command then said, "It doesn't seem like you were apart of this and you have no blood on you as well. So for now you are free to go, I will have one of my men escort you to the edge of the village so you can continue with your research," he said then walked off. "By the way you never gave me your name," the commander said having turned around. Turning slightly towards him she said, "Neither did you." Then walked off with a soldier who showed her to the edge of the village then left me to go about my own way. It had seemed strange about how those dragons had a glowing aura around them that didn't seem their own. And those eyes seemed as though someone else was looking through them.
Now with this new incident happening and similar clues being the same as before it brings to question who's really behind all of this. She made her way up the stairs to her apartment. Walking in she went to the bookshelf pulling down the book she worked so hard on. It was old and rough looking, but it was her first. Turning to the page about the rare Lumas flower, remembering that village that had been massacred.
Setting the book down she look over at the kitchen table where the box with her family history sat wondering why the Alpha King would give it to her now. There must be something about being on of the Alpha Pairs that I need find out. Maybe there's more to it then just a name. Lily pondered trying to riddle out why a rogue attack would happen now? Looking at the clock it was close to dinner time and Max would be here soon so she needed to figure out what meal would be special to make for him tonight. Maybe I'll barbecue tonight, she thought grabbing her purse and reusable grocery bags heading to the store for meal ideas and ingredients.
