Chapter 118 - CH : 117 Crow Siege

{Chapter: 118 He is a Demon}

"Betty!" LJ yelled, his voice breaking as he stared at the school bus in anguish.

Inside the bus, the black woman who had accompanied LJ out of the ambulance was now fighting for her life. The crows were swarming in through the shattered windows, their shrill cries filling the air as they attacked. Betty, her back pressed against the door, fired her weapon frantically, her face etched with desperation.

"Ahh! No!" she screamed as a cluster of crows dove at her. Talons slashed and beaks tore. In the chaos, Betty fell to the ground, her screams fading into silence as the crows overwhelmed her.

"Betty! No! BETTY!" LJ screamed again, his voice hoarse, his fists clenching helplessly.

On top of the school bus, an armed man manned a flamethrower. He unleashed a stream of fire into the air, the blaze briefly illuminating the night and dispersing the nearest crows. The sky glowed as the fire arced upward, burning through the black cloud of birds.

But his triumph was short-lived. A crow swooped down from behind, its claws raking across his neck. The man staggered, losing his footing. He fell from the roof with a sickening thud, and the swarm descended upon him in an instant. His screams were drowned out by the thunderous flapping of wings.

Carlos, who had yet to climb back into his vehicle, stayed behind to cover a young girl running toward safety. She stumbled, her terrified sobs echoing in the chaos. Carlos dashed toward her, shielding her with his body as he fired at the crows.

But then, disaster struck. The uncontrolled flamethrower atop the school bus, still spewing fire, tilted precariously. The flames licked downward, surging toward Carlos and the girl. His eyes widened as he saw the inferno rushing toward them.

Just as the fire was about to engulf them, it stopped abruptly—blocked by an invisible force. Carlos stood frozen, disbelief etched across his face. He spun around, his eyes searching for an explanation, and then he saw her.

"Alice," he breathed.

She stood about ten meters away, her stance unwavering despite the storm of ash and feathers around her. Her hair whipped around her face as though caught in an unseen wind. Her eyes, usually sharp and determined, were now entirely black, the voids expanding as her power surged.

The fire roared upward as if under her command. The flames grew in intensity, twisting and stretching across the sky, consuming the crows mid-flight. Their piercing cries of pain filled the air as the fire devoured them.

In mere moments, the sky was clear. All that remained were the faint embers of dying flames and the thick clouds of ash that rained down like black snow. A heavy silence fell over the survivors, broken only by the occasional groan of the wind.

Alice swayed on her feet, her body trembling. Her head throbbed with unbearable pain, and the world around her spun. She tried to take a step forward, but her knees buckled.

"Alice!" Carlos called, running toward her.

She managed a faint smile before collapsing. Carlos reached out, his hands extended to catch her. But just as his fingers brushed against her, she vanished.

"You can't touch her, just so you know." A voice passed into Carlos's ear.

Carlos froze. His eyes darted to where Alice now stood, a few meters away, supported by another figure. His heart sank as recognition dawned.

"William," Carlos whispered, his voice laced with dread.

The man standing beside Alice smirked, his hand resting gently on her hair. "It's me, I haven't seen you in a long time." William said, his tone casual but dripping with arrogance.

Carlos's fists clenched. "Take your hands off her!" he shouted, rage boiling over.

William tilted his head, his smirk widening. "What if I don't take it away? Carlos, can you understand that you are jealous? It looks like you like Alice, it's so funny." He leaned in closer to Alice.

"Damn it, don't bother you, let her go, Alice." Carlos shouted, pointing his gun at William.

William looked at Alice who was in a coma. "You're angry. You're angry at such a thing. If so." William's face moved closer to Alice's face

his lips brushing against her ear as he spoke softly, "Does this bother you?"

"I will kill you!" Carlos roared, raising his gun. He fired without hesitation, the bullet slicing through the air toward William's head.

But William barely flinched. His hand moved faster than the eye could follow, plucking the bullet out of the air like it was nothing more than a falling leaf. He held it between his fingers, inspecting it with mild interest.

"You should know better by now," William said, his voice calm and mocking. "In fact, you should understand that the gap between us is like heaven and earth."

"Damn you!" Carlos shouted, his voice cracking with frustration.

William chuckled, tossing the bullet aside. "Relax, Carlos. I'm not here to kill you. Not yet, anyway. You can enjoy your little rebellion for a while longer."

Feeling William's disdainful eyes, Carlos' heart was unwilling to resign, "I fight with you."

"Stop, Carlos." Claire came over.

"Claire." Carlos stopped.

Claire appeared, her weapon drawn. "Who the hell are you?" she demanded, her eyes narrowing as she sized William up.

William twisted his neck with a wicked smile, "Is Claire right? My first meeting, It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is William. Lovely day, for a lovely lady isn't it?"

Claire's grip on her gun tightened. "I wouldn't call this lovely. Carlos, do you know this guy?"

Before Carlos could answer, Jill emerged from the shadows, her eyes narrowing as they locked onto William. "So, you're still alive," she said, her voice dripping with disdain.

"Jill," Carlos called out, relief and surprise mingling in his tone. "You're okay!"

"Of course I am," Jill replied sharply. "Did you think I'd die so easily?"

"No, it's not," Carlos called.

"William!" An incredible voice came over.

William smiled. "Terry, it's been a long time. Have you missed me?"

A woman's voice broke through the tense atmosphere. "William!" Terry cried out, disbelief and joy lighting up her face. She ran toward him, throwing herself into his arms.

William put Alice next to Jill to hold her and opened his hands, "Terry."

William caught her effortlessly, his demeanor softening as he held her. "I told you we'd meet again," he said gently. "And this time, I'm not going anywhere."

"William, is it really you?" Terry asked.

"It's me. I said we'll meet again. This time, I won't leave again." William said softly.

"Great, great."

"Hum!" Jill snorted and moved her face to the side, cursing William constantly in her heart, 'Fucker, this dead animal ignored her existence and hugged Terry, a woman, unforgivable, abomination hateful.'

Everyone looked at the scene of this blood, what is going on? Look at the situation.

The rest of the group watched in stunned silence. Claire's brow furrowed in confusion. "Terry, what the hell is going on here?"

Terry then remembered that this was a large group of people, and immediately pushed William away. She was very embarrassed and wiped her tears of excitement, with a hint of shyness: "This, this" "I… It's complicated," she stammered.

Carlos, however, wasn't having it. "Everyone back!" he shouted, his voice tinged with panic. "He's a demon!"
