Chapter 6 - Unnamed

Just two sentences overturned the plan he came up with.

"Hey is that true?"

"Yes! my dream can be achieved."

"How can I follow you in these chains?"

"I'm ready to follow you."

The crowd broke into a rabble, their hearts set ablaze by the promise of getting into the CDS.

But this was like a cemetery compared to what it sounded like after the nurse said; she gives them five minutes to get up else she'll leave without them.

"Come on! Come on! Stupid chain, how do you come off?!"

Sol fiddled with the chain on his legs, desperately looking for a key and lock system he could use to set himself free.

"Four minutes left."

Those words sett off a violent reaction from the crowd.

"This is so dum."

"You bitches should unlock the chains faster."

"Yeah, this isn't fair."

Splat

The head of an applicant got launched into the wall by the nurse in red.

"You do not talk to your superiors like that."

Sol froze up as the head whizzed past him.

Be polite.

Be polite.

Remember to be polite.

He drilled that into his skull before he went back to unlocking the chains.

"Three minutes left."

"There's no time for this. I don't have any lock-picking skills anyways."

'I'll have to this the hard way.'

Sol dropped the chain. Really hard.'

Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang

"Two minutes left."

" I have to be smarter about this."

Sol thought for a moment and figured out a more efficient approach.

He put the chains on his wrists around the one on his legs and pulled with all his strength.

After an unknown while of pulling and pushing the chains they finally snapped right off.

"Yes, I did it."

Blood rushed up his head as he got off the bed.

"One minute remaining."

"That did not feel like one minute. What broken clock is she using?"

'Oops.'

Sol closed his mouth.

'She might have heard that.'

Considering the incredible feats he's seen perform in this world, super hearing didn't seem to farfetched.

'let's just hope she doesn't cut my head off.

"Move out of the way, idiot."

While he was deep in thought, a guy covered in bandages bumped into Sol and shoved him into a bed.

Sol lay there disoriented for a few seconds before registering what had happened.

"I just got disrespected by a rip off Mummy."

There was no way in hell he was taking that.

He chased after him as fast as he could and got straight to business.

He threw his legs with as much force as he could, taking extra care to target the spot with the most bandages on it.

"Aaaaargh."

He clenched his legs in pain as Sol and other people walked past him.

"Next time be polite, you halfass zombie."

For some odd reason, kicking and scolding this guy made him feel extremely satisfied, as if a load had been taken off his chest.

'His ancestors must have offended mine in the past.'

Sol arrived at the nurse's side with little to no other problems on the way.

"Thirty seconds left."

Sol took a good look at the nurse as she began her final countdown.

She looked hella cranky.

She seemed like she killed people at the slightest inconvenience they caused her.

With the large scar down the middle of her face, pale white skin, and crimson clothes stained with a few drops of blood.

'I'm starting to think she should be the one in chains.'

"Mr Sanderson has waited long enough. If you aren't here yet, don't bother."

She kicked the dors down and stormed out of the infirmary.

The crowd followed after her, hopping, limping and walking as fast as their battered body could move them.

Sol was one of the faster ones in the crowd, considering he wasn't as injured as some of the other people here.

For example, the guy who had bumped into him earlier, he was the most injured person in the group and that showed — not from the many bandages all over his body, but from his position in the crowd.

He was so far behind, Sol wondered if he had actually moved at all.

'Maybe if I hadn't kicked his legs he would have been faster.'

They walked through the stone corridors for a while, until they arrived at a circular room similar to the ones used during the exams.

"Mr Sanderson, here are the people you asked for."

She got on her knees and bowed.

"Thanks for the trouble, Berry."

"No trouble at all, It's my pleasure."

She responded, still knelt.

While they were busy shining each others shoes, Sol checked out the other people in the room.

They stood loosely in a grid line format, all sporting the same dull grey uniform with a sparkling insignia on the side of their chest.

"Listen recruits!"

"I want you to take a good look at the faces of the people who just came in."

"Because, These people are going to be your slaves."
