Chapter 7 - Shattered Trust

He carried Alena effortlessly, her body limp in his arms as he crossed the threshold into the dimly lit room. The door clicked shut behind them, sealing them in a cocoon of shadows and whispers. With a swift motion, he threw her onto the bed, the mattress bouncing slightly under her weight. Alena's eyes fluttered open, a mix of confusion and desire swirling in their depths. She watched him through half-lidded eyes as he approached, his gaze dark and intense. Her heart raced, torn between the intoxicating pull of his presence and the faint voice of caution echoing in her mind.

As his lips trailed from her mouth to her neck, Alena felt a rush of warmth and desire. Her body responded instinctively, leaning into his touch, her breath hitching with each kiss. She surrendered to the moment, her mind clouded by the haze of alcohol and the intensity of his passion. But when his hand moved to her thigh, a flicker of resistance sparked within her. Even in her drunken state, a part of her knew she needed to stop. She placed her hand on his...

"Wait... please," she whispered, her voice slurred and unsteady. He paused, his breath hot against her skin, and looked into her eyes, trying to understand her muddled words. Alena's heart pounded in her chest, the alcohol clouding her senses but not completely drowning out her awareness of the moment. She wanted him, but a part of her still held back, a flicker of doubt in her hazy gaze.

He gently cupped her face, his thumb brushing away a stray tear that had escaped. "Alena," he murmured, his voice softening, "we don't have to do anything you're not ready for." His words were a lifeline, grounding her in the whirlwind of emotions. She nodded slowly, her movements sluggish, and took a deep breath, trying to steady herself despite the alcohol's grip.

Alexo carried Alena through the hallway, her head resting against his shoulder, her body limp from the alcohol. As he approached the door, Emma stepped in front of him, her eyes wide with concern. "She's my roommate" she said. Her voice firm but tinged with something more. "Let me take her".

Alexo hesitated, glancing at Emma. He knew she had a crush on him but he had never shown any interest. Still, he handed Alena over to her, trusting Emma to take care of her.

"Alright, but make sure she's okay," he said, his voice softening.

Emma nodded, taking Alena from him. She struggled slightly under the weight but managed to carry her inside the car, then she drove out.

Once inside their room, she placed Alena roughly on her bed, "I did not bring you there to spoil plans for me"she shouted in frustration, causing Alena to shake few times before dozing off.

The next morning, Alena woke up with a throbbing headache. She groaned, squinting against the harsh light streaming through the window. As she tried to piece together the events of the previous night, fragments of memories began to surface. The kiss. Her heart raced as she recalled the stranger's lips on hers. She gasped, covering her mouth with her hands, her eyes wide with shock.

"Oh no," she whispered, tears welling up. "I messed up." Regret washed over her as she remembered ignoring the voice that had warned her against going to the party. "How am I going to face him now? I'm screwed," she thought, panic rising in her chest. She had always prided herself on maintaining a clean profile, hoping to finish university quietly and calmly.

Overwhelmed by a mix of shame and fear, Alena buried her face in her hands and cried. The sobs wracked her body, releasing the pent-up emotions. After a while, she glanced over at Emma, who was still asleep on her bed. Feeling a wave of depression, Alena dragged herself to the bathroom, hoping a shower would help clear her mind.

As the warm water cascaded over her, she tried to think of a way to face him. She decided she had to go to class and apologize, promising herself that it would never happen again. With a heavy heart, she got dressed and headed out.

When she arrived at class, she was met with whispers and stares. The news of her kiss had spread like wildfire. Alena tried to stay calm, scanning the room for her only true friend, Lexy. Just then, she saw him approaching, his expression a mix of confusion and concern.

"What's going on, Alena? What happened? I never expected you to go to that party," he bombarded her with questions, his voice tinged with worry.

"Please, just listen to me," she begged, her voice trembling. "I can explain everything."

"I only went to the party to keep Emma company since she said she would be lonely," Alena explained, her voice trembling with guilt and confusion.

Lexy's eyes narrowed as he processed her words. Inwardly, he thought, *Emma, the cunning girl who only has eyes for Alexo, the one person who doesn't give a damn about her. She has two foolish friends, Zara and Claire, and plenty of people begging to be her friend. Now, all of a sudden, she claims she has no one to go with? Something's fishy. This must be a setup. But why target Alena? What did the new girl do to her?*

Alena noticed Lexy's distant expression and called him back from his thoughts. "Lexy?" she said softly, trying to regain his attention.

He snapped out of his reverie and focused on her, his concern evident. "I swear, I didn't mean to do it. I don't even know what happened to me. At first, I was dizzy, and then I lost it," she explained, her eyes pleading for understanding.

Lexy cut her short, his voice firm but reassuring. "I believe you, Alena. I know who's behind all this." He paused, his jaw tightening with anger.

Alena pushed further, desperate to understand. "Who? What do you mean?"

Lexy took a deep breath and began to explain. "Emma has a crush on Alexo, and she's been obsessed with him for a while. She's manipulative and cunning, and I'm sure she spiked your drink to make you act out of character. She wanted to embarrass you and get you out of the way."

Alena's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. "But why? What did I ever do to her?"
