Alena, beautiful and calm, radiated a light that people often noticed. On her first day at the university, she was overjoyed to finally enter the institute.
With her hands tightly gripping her backpack, a blossoming smile spread across her face as she gasped at the size of the buildings.
It was more than an estate, she thought.
"Hey, you look new here... I can tell from your happy mood," a voice said. Alena turned to see the speaker.
"Gosh," Alena gasped. "He looks so handsome," she thought, noting his brown hair, blue eyes, and smooth face. She mentally scolded herself for thinking that way.
"Uhm, I'm new here," she said nervously.
"Indeed, I was right! So, I can be of help to you in one way," he raised a brow. He couldn't help but laugh as he watched her jump and dance with joy, forgetting his earlier anger. He was now even more shocked by her beauty and happy spirit, which stirred something in him.
"Yeah, thanks! I would appreciate that a lot," she said, amused. "If a handsome guy like you would help me," she thought inwardly.
"Ok, so what's your name?" she asked, unsure if he would tell.
"Yeah, I'm Lexy. And you?" he returned her question.
"I'm Alena, and I've never heard of your name before" she said shyly.
"But at least you are hearing it now"he said and they both laughed.
"So, you should be in your freshman year, right?" he asked, seeking confirmation. He would be pleased if they were classmates.
"Yeah!" a childish voice left her mouth.
"You know, your name should be Joy," he whispered in her ear, making her blush.
She totally agreed with him, saying, "You can call me that... you know... that's also my name." They both laughed, and he escorted her to the admission office before departing.
Deep down, he was overjoyed they were classmates and that he could see her often. In the admission office, a young, skinny woman in a V-neck blouse with embroidered designs sat at a desk. She conveyed information to Alena, who stood straight to receive it.
"So, you say your name is Alena Joy," the woman said, swinging her chair to and fro.
"Yes, ma'am," Alena smiled.
"You know, you are under scholarship and cannot afford to misbehave, knowing your situation"she raised a brow
"...I went through your file and discovered your parents died in a car accident. I'm truly sorry about that. I hope you are feeling good," the young lady said with genuine concern, which touched Alena's heart.
"Thank you, ma'am, for your concern. But I'm truly happy now. Though they are gone, I still have God... my best father and mother," Alena's smile astonished Mary.
"What a beautiful soul," Mary thought. "You are a wonderful girl, and I want you to do all you can to avoid trouble. You won't have any problems, okay?" Mary's face still showed concern.
"Ok, ma'am," Alena's smile made Mary blush.
"Ok, take this and go through it. These are the dos and don'ts of our great GREAT LIGHT UNIVERSITY," Mary emphasized.
Alena was grateful and happy she got to her dorm stress-free. She noted that classes commenced on Monday, giving her time to tour her environment and get to know more. She thought, "Gosh, I should have taken that cutie's number to make touring around stress-free," and smacked her head.
Alena began putting things in order while anticipating meeting her new roommate. "Ahh," she said, tired but happy she finished early. "I can't afford to dirty my mattress... no, no, no," she shook her index finger.
"I need to take a bath," she said, bringing out her bathing items and tying a towel around her.
At the shocked of what hitted her, a woww escaped her mouth when she entered the bathroom.
Yeah talking about that, she did not digest her room due to the stress and she ran back to see if there is something also intriguing.
"Wow, a table and chair for my roommates and I...
not only that, the walls are giving that girly vibe. It's so beautiful"she quickly ran when she noticed her table can close and open.
On a thought, she opened it to see a mino laptop. She was now speechless, she just started crying.
"This is unbelievable"she said emotionally.
Her hands ran all over the laptop,the laptop was white and designed with stickers.
"Madam Mary never told me I would get a laptop"she cried. "I will call you cutty"
Alena wiped her tears and went back to the huge, sparkling bathroom.
The bathroom was very spacious having everything she ever wanted.
"This can only be your doings God"she lifted her eyes up as she recalled how she would always pray to have all these kind of things.
"Thank you Lord for always hearing my pleas...
you answered all my longing prayers.
I entered university, and not only that an expensive and popular one at that.
And also I got a better room. What's more have you not done...
thank you Lord. I love you so much"Alena prayed.
After spraying her towel, she applied ointments on her body and drifted to sleep.
