Chereads / The Mercenary of Prestigious Summit Academy / Chapter 4 - The Silent Judge

Chapter 4 - The Silent Judge

Kendrick's now lifeless body fell backward, the white matter from his gunned skull abstractly painted whatever was behind him: the red couch, the glassy floor, and the adjacent corners of the crimson room.

Thud!

Witnessing the arrival of the living guillotine, Rodrick miraculously sobered up. It was the same case for the two female students under the alcohol and unknown drug influence, Sophie and Rain, which caused the latter to halt her acts of oral sex at the moment.

No matter how unsightly, whatever was happening at this moment didn't matter.

Only a determined fate awaited these three students lavishing each other's flesh and bones.

Rodrick, who pulled up his pants in shame, instinctively stood up, his hazy yet sober eyes alternatively looked at this woman of elegance and authority and the drug dealer, Kendrick, whose head was blown into pieces.

"A-Alina…!"

It was only after one of the female students, Rain, opened her mouth that Rodrick regained his composure.

"You-! Wh-what the hell did you do?! Do you go around the academy casually murdering whenever you want?! And if it's because of that drugs the bastard brought, it's sanctioned by Pandora so it's not against the Summit Rules!"

But the fear and anxiety in his stuttering voice betrayed his superficially composed self.

There was no hesitation on how Alina barged into the room with a nameless student. Seeing how a person could just kill someone without blinking their eyes… that's a grim reaper embodiment!

Witnessing the three students taking a few steps back, as one of them stumbled, Alina chuckled, but her pink rose eyes looked at them as though they were utter garbage.

She then glanced at Aeon by her side, who nodded at her as a response of understanding.

In the next moment, the air around Aeon trembled, forming a starry crack. Aeon extended his one hand and pulled something from the void, surprising Rodrick and the two slutty bitches clinging to him as their eyes widened.

"A godent?!"

The mechanism behind this still remained a mystery—that every godent or superhuman was granted the ability to store items through empty space, which was then formally called the 'Void Storage' or generally known as 'subspace bag.'

It was one of the undeniable proofs that the person in question was not a normal human and that the power of the mysterious "Goddess," or the comet that landed on a certain part of the Earth at time immemorial, had influenced the evolution of the individual thus becoming a 'godent.'

Now, what Aeon pulled from his subspace bag was a metal-like disc named Rift Disc, one of the advanced innovations in this era similar to the Old World's drone technology.

Throwing away the shimmering silver-hued disc on the chilling air like mimicking a drone, it flickered and released a projection that was too human-like, as though it was a complete clone.

"…Alina will kill us."

"What's that bitch gonna do? Suck my dick?"

It was a video projection of what had transpired in this room earlier.

"Th-that's…"

Rodrick realized his sin, and at the same time, Aeon opened his mouth to speak what was in the transgressor's troubled mind.

"Summit Rule Book, Section of Royalty, Clause I – 'Any mockery against any of the heirs of the Seven World Corporations – legitimate or illegitimate – is punishable by death…'"

Then, as if Aeon wanted to shine a ray of hope for these sweating students regardless of the air-conditioned room, he continued,

"But, the subject of mockery would have reins over the transgressor's fate, whether it is mercy-"

Before Aeon could finish his words, Rodrick suddenly fell on his knees, his hands clasping for forgiveness.

"F-Forgive me, Alina! I-I didn't mean what I said! I-I am drunk! Okay? You know how fucked up someone could be if they're intoxicated! That's just human nature!"

Looking at Rodrick's sudden demeanor, Sophie and Rain did the same, prostrating in front of the Eurasia Grand Agency's heir.

"R-right! Also, it's only Rodrick's fault! W-we never mock you or anything! Please spare us!" Rain said.

"Alina… Forgive us, please! We're just here to have fun! Nothing more!" Sophie added.

Alina let out a sigh.

Hearing this, the tense atmosphere seemed to have been momentarily lifted.

Only for the three of them to hear what Alina said next, who remained looking at them blankly.

"Are you done?"

"Wait-"

Tsug! Tsug!

Thud! Thud!

Sophie's and Rain's brains exploded just like Kendrick's.

Alina's ruthlessness echoed in Rodrick's mind.

He now remembered what some others called the heir of the Eurasia Grand Agency.

"…Silent Judge…"

Because when Alina acted on something, it only meant that there was a justifiable reason to do so.

Because even before she delivered the judgment, she was already aware of the sins the transgressors had committed.

No amount of words could reverse what she had decided.

No lies shall escape her eyes.

The truths accompany her soul.

It was the power of the godent, Alina Noxan Eurasia, who possessed what was known as the Eye of Judgment.

"Why did you even let them run their mouths if your decision wouldn't change in the slightest?" Aeon asked, his back on the wall beside the crimson door.

Meanwhile, with her arms crossed, Alina stood beside him. Her eyes watched the maid casually cleaning up the dead bodies as though it was the most normal job in this Red Moon Hotel.

After a few seconds, Alina, with her gaze fixated on the maid, responded, "Because it's funny.

"And at the same time, I hate it. I despise anyone who commits sins and if caught guilty, they would be saying they are just humans acting on their needs or desires."

In other words, being human was and would never be a justifiable excuse to commit a grave sin.

"What about you, Aeon? Don't you want to ask what did they do to deserve this? Don't tell me… You really think I executed these bastards because of that perverted mockery?" Alina finally glanced to her side, seeing the man's unbothered expression.

Before Aeon could answer, the maid interjected, "I'm done cleaning up, Young Miss Alina."

As though nothing had transpired in this very room, the place now looked neat.

The white matter, the splashed blood, and the dead bodies vanished into thin air.

Alina nodded at the maid with a wide grin.

"That's a strange superpower. Yet convenient in this place."

Aeon glanced at the necklace with coffin-shaped ornament tied around the maid's fair-colored neck.

"Thank you for your service. Also, I'm looking forward to your preparations for the upcoming banquet."

"It is my honor." The maid lowered her head before Alina and Aeon exited the room, their strides slow.

Just as they walked down the stairs from the second floor's hallway of these massive premises, seeing other crimson doors and hearing all kinds of noises, Aeon spoke,

"It's not my job to ask questions about what you do, Young Miss."

His demeanor was entirely different compared to when he was interacting with other students. It's professional, to say the least.

Alina paused, his words resonated in her.

"Really…?"

The next moment Aeon knew, Alina pushed him against the wall, one of her hands on his collar as their face closed to each other, and their gaze seemed to be sizing up their own thoughts.

"Because it's to protect me, right? However, as I overheard earlier, I share Yuridika's sentiment about your identity. W-why… why did my late father mention you to his will…?"

It had only been four months, because of a certain incident, that the former director of the Eurasia Grand Agency—Alina's father—died. And three months ago was her first meeting with Aeon in a very cold place.

"Is that an order, Young Miss?" Aeon's response somewhat caught her off-guard.

"Wh-what?"

"If you order me to tell you, then I will do so. But is that what you want?"

At that moment, Alina released her grasp from Aeon's collar, taking some distance away from the person she sought based on her father's will.

For some reason, the contents of the will flashed in her mind, making her hesitant to open her mouth.

After a few seconds, letting out a deep breath, Alina calmly said, "No, forget it. Let's go."

***

In her hotel-like wide abode found in the Northern Peak of the academy, Alina Noxan Eurasia, in her student uniform, sat at her office-like desk which was filled with numerous papers either related to the matters within the academy or the corporation itself.

After her father's demise, the position of director still remained vacant. Of course, as the sole legitimate daughter, she was destined to be its youngest director who would lead the agency to its missions and visions moving forward.

However, just like in the vast wild filled with animals of all kinds, several opportunists had their eyes set on her as if she was prey waiting to be devoured at the right place and at the right time.

With her back facing the high-end mirror, as the bluish moonlight reflected her being, Alina opened the desk's compartment and reached for a thick folder engraved with the agency's symbol.

Opening it, what welcomed her eyes were the same thin parchment she laid her gaze on around four months ago.

It was the will of her father.

Its contents, its verification, everything in it was irrefutable.

Steadying her breath, she thoroughly read a few sections regarding her present questionable circumstances.

[ Find Aeon in Antarctica. He's a mercenary that will protect you in case something happens to me. ]

[ You can use him however you want. He will heed your orders without questions. ]

However, the reason Alina hesitated to respond to Aeon's earlier compliance was…

[ But be careful. He will do whatever you command him. However, the moment he questions you "Is that an order?" Refrain or divert your attention to something else. ]

For some reason, her father didn't explain why that was the case.

"What difference does it make if he follows my orders, anyway? Is it because it's about him personally?" Alina mumbled.

Looking at the written will, Alina then arrived at one of the sections about Aeon that caused her to decide to remain distant.

[ Above all else, do not trust him. ]
