Chapter 111: The Ruins of Approval

As the bus limped along, Kent's phone buzzed again. He answered without hesitation.
"Hello, Kent, what are you doing? You should have reached the ruin by now. Where are you?" Jade's voice came through, brisk and exasperated.
Kent rubbed his temple. "I'm stuck on Highway 68. There's a massive traffic jam—Watchers and local defenders have blocked the highway because of the ruins' opening. I don't know how long this will take."
"Stop wasting time, just run there! A level-E cultivator can get there in two hours. Just run there, think of it as some exercise. The Ruin is showing signs of opening; they might burst any moment," Jade instructed.
Kent's heart pounded. If I go later, my treasures might be taken by others. He glared at the phone. "Okay, Jade, I got it. I'll head there immediately," he replied, his tone brisk with urgency before ending the call.
