Vans's eyes twitched and suddenly shot open, his breathing rapid and heavy. His eyes darted around, and turning to look to the left, he was met with a glare.
"Mia?" He mumbled.
"You—"
"Argh." He tried to move his hands to get up, yet a sharp pain in his bones held him back.
"Don't move." Mia cautioned softly, her angry stare fading away as she placed both of her hands on his. The runes engraved on her palm glowed with a green light.
'How could I have missed a spot.' Mia wondered, the green light slowly fading away, though she wasn't done.
Vans could see her struggling with channelling her energy, her aura unstable. She looked exhausted with bags under her eyes, having kept watch over them all night.
"Mia?" His wife turned to look at him, the glow of the runes completely fading as her focus had been broken.
