Sorcha Sinquerra had it all: a handsome husband, a beautiful home and a life that was the envy of others. Her marriage to Kynan Ember was the envy of all who knew them, and Sorcha felt like the luckiest woman alive.
Sorcha's emotion on this special day was a mix of anticipation and doubts. She shrugged everything off her mind and stepped into the house, but then, she was struck with eye blindness.
The house wasn't like this when she went out to get things for their anniversary.
She frowned, "Kynan, is that you? Are you back?" She wasn't expecting him to be back so soon. She had a lot of things planned for today.
She couldn't move forward, but from where she stood, she could perceive the strong scent of rose and definitely some delicacies had been prepared.
A shiver ran down her spine as she was ridden with doubts of who could be inside.
Sorcha's mind began to pound, but suddenly, Kynan's voice echoed in the house.
"Fatso," Sorcha hated that name so much. Even after being called like that for two years, she still doesn't like it. "I'm sorry for presenting this to you on our special day. But I want to make this day a little more special for you."
Sorcha's mind wasn't at ease. Something was amiss with this special whatever he called.
"Your excess weight is a barrier between us!" Damn it! "Being seen with you is shameful. You know my status, right? Let's end this!"
Kynan's words were blunt and hurtful. Sorcha eyes pricked with years that fell. Her heart hurt so much, so much pain. Ones she couldn't share with anyone.
Her throat was sore from being quiet for too long. "Ky..Nan. Kynan..what have I done to you? I only loved you all my life."
Kynan remained unfazed, he chuckled, "hehehe. I know and that's why I am breaking you down. Get out of my house."
Sorcha widened her eyes at his words, "You know how much I… No no no." She took a few steps forward but she bumped into something and fell loudly on the floor.
"Dummy! You are too clumsy. Are you that fat that it is affecting your eyes as well?" Kynan ridiculed, even after seeing how hurtful his words were in her ears. He moved over and switched on the lights in the house.
Sorcha kept her head low on the floor, the floor was filled with her tears already. She had nowhere to go, she was vulnerable, but he is using her weakest point against her.
"My weight?" Sorcha screamed as loud as she could. "You loved me with my weight. Don't you?"
Kynan seemed to have forgotten that Sorcha was still inside. He sat down and took a paper from the table, "I don't want to be associated with you. Sign this and I will give you $100."
This was how much Kynan thinks she is worth. Her mind was messed up as well as her face. There was nothing good that would come out from hovering over him anymore. She has had enough of this abusive marriage, shouldn't she be done already?
She struggled to stand up and walked over to him. She collected the paper with the pen, thinking she would easily let go. But it wasn't that easy, drop if tears fell on the paper, and it only made Kynan more disgusted at her.
"Always Sloven,"
That was the breaking point, she forgot her pain and signed the paper and then she slammed it on his face. She was about to give him a bit of his medicine but then she remembered the news that was reported this morning. And the lightning struck was the worst thing she could think of.
She looked at Kynan's face and it was exactly as she thought. "You did this on purpose? Where do you want me to go, you son of a gun!"
"Is that how you plead with your ex husband to let you stay for the night?" Kynan's eyes were glued to his wrist watch.
Sorcha realized that he was indeed right, but, "I am staying here and there is nothing you can do."
Kynan rolled his eyes, "Fatso, don't tell me you've gone crazy as well. You are leaving this house right this minute. I have packed your bags for you."
Sorcha breathes in and out to keep her cool, "Darling, a cyclone is happening. I can't go out now."
Kynan remained silent, he went upstairs to their room and brought out the bags that he had packed. He threw it up from the stairs down to where she was standing. He then turned his back at her and walked away.
All what Sorcha said went into his deaf ears. Sorcha was left alone again. This insult was too much for her to bear.
"I won't stay here as well, f**king bastard." She hissed before storming out of the house, but the storm outside was far beyond what she thought it would be. This was Sorcha's first Cyclone and to make matters worse, she was now trapped in it.
A heavy rainfall started which is not good, 'flood, death'. Such thoughts occupied her mind.
'I won't die easily,' Sorcha fell countless times with her bags. She was almost swept away by the water. It was her luck that she had weight, but it was also her misfortune because she couldn't carry her body well.
Just when she thought all hope was lost and she would die in the cyclone, she spotted an abandoned house in the distance. She had encountered her own light in the tunnel the minute that she saw an abandoned house. That was the only place she could seek safety from.
She just hoped the house wouldn't collapse on her. Exhausted and battered, Sorcha stumbled into the abandoned house, her energy spent.
Sorcha spent the night tossing and turning, her mind racing with thoughts of the cyclone and her failed marriage.
What did Sorcha mean by she won't die easily?
