Exhaling a sigh, Lariette leaned comfortably against the seat. Her eyes trailed the passing lights of the street lampposts outside.
Ruediger's truck moved smoothly down the expressway, leaving Eldoria Heights. They were heading to Lumina Spring, his new residence after marrying Lariette this morning.
Chairman Delaney remained in Eldoria Heights. The elderly man would most likely stay the night there. Even if he insisted on returning home, the Elsher family's driver could drive him back.
"Lettie."
Lariette tore her eyes from the view outside the truck, looking at Ruediger's side profile, backlit by the street lampposts. Despite the dimness, she could see a smile hanging on his lips.
"Do you regret what you did just now?"
Ruediger's question earned an immediate reply from Lariette.
"No. I'll never regret it."
