Duke Leander could only blame himself for this.
It was a parent's responsibility to educate their children. Had he been more capable, his precious son would have received better guidance.
But what could they do? Even if he crucified himself for the past, it would still be the present that mattered.
"My son! It's okay if you don't get top marks in class or can't pilot a mecha! Just promise your Papa you won't be a scumbag!"
While the Duke would, of course, be proud of a well-performing son, they didn't have a child to get a perfect specimen!
And right now, a free son who was a good person would be good enough for a gutted Duke.
"Son, it's your Papa's fault for failing to do my duties, but even so, you have to understand that actions have consequences."
"Look at Steward Han! Your mother said that Steward Han was cursed to go bald because he's a scumbag!"
