Sofia's eyes followed Anna as she left the hospital room, a sense of unease settling in the pit of her stomach. She couldn't shake the feeling that Anna was hiding something from her, that there was more to the story than what she was being told.
As she lay in bed, Sofia's mind began to spin with questions. What had really happened to her? Why was Anderson acting so strangely? And what did Anna have to do with it all?
Just then, the door to the hospital room swung open and a doctor walked in, a clipboard in his hand.
"Good morning, Sofia," the doctor said, smiling at her. "I see you're feeling a bit better today."
Sofia nodded, trying to push aside her doubts and fears. "Yes, I'm feeling a bit more alert."
The doctor nodded, making a note on his clipboard. "That's good to hear. We're going to run some more tests today, just to make sure you're okay."
Sofia nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. Maybe the doctor could help her get to the bottom of what was going on.
As the doctor continued to talk, Sofia's eyes began to glaze over. She was tired, and her mind was still foggy from the medication.
But just as she was starting to drift off to sleep, Sofia heard something that made her heart skip a beat.
"...and Anderson has been very cooperative," the doctor was saying. "He's been helping us piece together what happened to you."
Sofia's eyes snapped open, her mind racing with questions. What did the doctor mean by "piece together what happened"? And why was Anderson being so cooperative?
As the doctor continued to talk, Sofia's sense of unease grew. She knew that she had to get to the bottom of what was going on, no matter what it took.
And so, she made a decision. She would play along, pretend to be the helpless victim. But secretly, she would be gathering information, searching for clues.
Sofia's eyes locked onto the doctor's, a smile spreading across her face.
"Thank you, doctor," she said, her voice sweet. "I'm just so grateful to be alive."
The doctor smiled back, unaware of the storm brewing beneath Sofia's calm exterior.
But Sofia knew. She knew that she was just starting to scratch the surface of a very deep and very dark secret. And she was determined to uncover it, no matter what it took.
As the doctor left the room, Sofia's smile faltered. She was determined to get to the bottom of what was going on, and she knew just where to start.
She pressed the call button on her bedside table, and a nurse appeared a few moments later.
"Can I help you, Sofia?" the nurse asked, smiling.
"Yes," Sofia said, her voice firm. "I need to see my phone. And I need to know what's been going on while I've been in here."
The nurse's expression faltered for a moment, before she regained her composure.
"Let me check with the doctor," the nurse said. "But I think we can arrange for you to have your phone back. As for what's been going on...well, I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to say."
Sofia's eyes narrowed. What were they hiding from her?
"Just tell me one thing," Sofia said, her voice low. "Is Anderson telling the truth? About what happened to me?"
The nurse's eyes darted to the side, before she looked back at Sofia.
"I don't know what you're talking about," the nurse said quickly.
But Sofia saw the flicker of doubt in her eyes. And she knew that she was onto something.
"Bring me my phone," Sofia said, her voice firm.
The nurse nodded, before hurrying out of the room.
Sofia's eyes locked onto the door, her mind racing with possibilities. What would she find on her phone? And what secrets would it reveal?
As she waited for the nurse to return, Sofia's determination grew. She would get to the bottom of what was going on, no matter what it took.
And when the nurse returned with Sofia's phone, Sofia's eyes scanned the screen, her heart racing with anticipation.. She had expected to see a flurry of concerned messages from Anderson and Anna, but instead, her inbox was eerily empty.
A shiver ran down Sofia's spine as she realized that someone had been deleting her messages. But who?
She quickly scrolled through her contacts, her eyes landing on Anderson's name. She hesitated for a moment before sending him a text.
"Hey, what's going on?" Sofia typed, trying to sound casual.
Anderson responded almost immediately.
"Hey, babe! I'm so glad you're awake. I've been worried sick about you. Can't wait to see you."
Sofia's eyes narrowed as she read the message. Something didn't feel right.
She decided to do some digging, scrolling through her phone's browser history. That's when she stumbled upon a strange website.
It was a private investigator's website, and Sofia's heart skipped a beat as she realized that someone had been investigating her.
But who?
And why?
Sofia's mind was racing with questions as she heard a knock at the door.
"Come in," Sofia called out, her eyes still fixed on the screen.
The door opened, and Anderson walked in, a smile on his face.
"Hey, babe," Anderson said, walking over to Sofia's bedside. "I brought you some flowers."
Sofia's eyes locked onto Anderson's, her heart pounding with suspicion.
"What's going on, Anderson?" Sofia asked, her voice firm.
Anderson's smile faltered for a moment before he regained his composure.
"What do you mean?" Anderson asked, his voice innocent.
Sofia's eyes narrowed.
"Don't play dumb with me, Anderson," Sofia said, her voice low. "I know something's going on. And I'm going to find out what it is."
Anderson's eyes darted to the side, before he looked back at Sofia.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Anderson said, his voice firm.
But Sofia saw the flicker of fear in his eyes.
And she knew that she was getting close to the truth.
