Tristan looked blankly at Helena's serious expression. He was scared.
He forgot everything about his friendship with Vernon and that he was eavesdropping on their conversation and blurted out, "It was Vernon's plan. I didn't do anything. He told me to call that woman and I did. That's all. Helena, please spare me, okay? I had no personal vendetta against you behind my actions. I was just being a good friend. That's all. Really. Please believe me."
From his words, one could understand how scared he was of Helena.
Helena frowned. She did not say anything for a while. Tristan gulped on his saliva as he blinked his eyes innocently at her, trying his best to prove that he was innocent in this matter.
After a long while of silence, Helena suddenly blurted out, "You are lying."
"Huh?" Tristan felt like he was using this expression a lot today. But sadly, he had no choice. "I am not lying. Why would I lie?"
