I'm not sure how long I slept during the ride, but I woke up to find the car parked on the side of the road, with no sign of my butler. I looked out the window, thinking he might have stepped out to stretch his legs or relieve himself, but he was nowhere to be seen.
I looked around the car and found my phone by the side of the passenger seat. I switched it on immediately and attempted to call my butler. The line rang through, but to my surprise, his phone was still in the car.
I quickly released my seatbelt and searched for it, finding it on the floor near the brake pedal. A sense of unease settled in immediately.
