Have you heard of the Evernight? It might mean something else but in this world, it's... a curse. Depriving us of light, making us pay for the air we breathe. These times are dire really. With demons ravaging the earth, these awakened came to play. Defeating them, and extending their lives. Some generous enough to share a few years with others. Even with the rarity of hunters, some still kill each other. Because of jealousy, anger, lust, and all other sins there is to commit. It was bad enough that humans committed, but hunters? Blessed by God? "I don't care anymore. He betrayed my trust, and he will pay for it. The entire world will know pain..." Chapter 1 - 1. Prologue: The Evernight

What do you think about betrayal?

Is revenge justified when it comes to it? What if the betrayer was family? Could you still do it?

Betrayal is humanity's oldest sin. Lessons go unlearned. Even the purest hearts can be twisted by jealousy, anger, and greed.

This world is soaked in sin, a poison that festers unchecked. And now, the world has grown weary of bearing its burden.

~"Humans... I am sorry."~

A voice echoed all around the world at that moment, causing chaos and confusion. It wasn't spoken, but felt—a deep, sorrowful resonance that sank into the bones of every person. No language barrier existed; the message was universal, understood by all.

"What the hell was that?"

"Did you hear it too?"

"Some kind of broadcast?"

From Tokyo to Moscow, Lagos to New York, the reactions were the same. The air buzzed with confusion and fear. Phones lit up with frantic messages, televisions blared breaking news. And then, it happened.

The sunlight, warm and golden—fractured. Rays twisted into beams, forming letters in the sky as if written by a divine hand.

In the Oval Office, the President stared out the window, his hands trembling as he stared at the words.

"Mr. President, are you seeing this?"

Outside, the skies began to darken. Not the hazy shadow of an eclipse—this was absolute, suffocating darkness, a night that swallowed the day whole.

And it was still 2 p.m.

The words in the heavens burned with eerie brilliance, their meaning inescapable:

[Welcome the Evernight.]

The world plunged into chaos. In some places, the ground trembled, splitting open to unleash waves of molten fire. In others, the oceans churned, swallowing entire cities without warning. Storms raged, their winds howling like banshees, and from the darkness came shadows—unseen horrors that stalked the terrified masses.

And even from the skies, Flames began to fall down like asteroids. They landed to reveal themselves as pillars with glowing engravings.

It was as if the Earth itself had declared war on humanity.

No one could have expected what came next. The world unraveled, piece by piece, as humanity's final reckoning began.
