"I didn't want to bring this up, but since we're talking about it, I guess I should ask," he stepped closer to Miranda. Every step was accompanied by a step, "Why was Maria at the scene that night?"
Miranda's heart dropped. She didn't think he'd catch on. She had written that letter and sent it to Evelyn, hoping to trap her in the cabin until the mating ceremony ended. But whatever happened after that was not her doing. She didn't send Kael and his friends there.
"How would I know?" Miranda shot back. She would never admit to what she did.
Markkus narrowed his eyes as he stood in front of her, "Miranda, do you think I don't know you?" He suddenly laughed, unamused, "You sent a letter to Evelyn, written in my handwriting…"
Miranda's eyes widened further and she took a step back. He knew!? If so, why didn't he stop it? Why did he allow Evelyn to go there and be assaulted by his cousin?
