Feeling a sense of relief wash over her, Evelyn dragged her foot as she slowly walked up to him. She wanted to run to him, but her legs were quivering, and her heartbeat was still in a total mess.
"You're shaken," Vlad observed as she stood in front of him.
Evelyn's eyes locked onto Vlad's, searching for whatnot. Even though she didn't believe that reflection, for some reason, the words it said were stuck at the back of her mind.
Vlad suddenly reached out and gently brushed a few strands of hair that were stuck to her face due to sweat.
She felt a flutter in her chest as his cold fingers touched her skin.
"What...what just happened?" Evelyn stammered, trying to process the events in the maze.
"Since you didn't fail, it means you faced your inner demons," he said.
Evelyn swallowed, so had she followed the other paths, she would have failed?
Leaving the question at the back of her mind, she asked instead, "D– did I pass?"
