Seraphina's heart beat as she fought to comprehend her new environment. Her anxiety was heightened by the perplexity that hung over her head. Could this be a faraway, reinforced prison? She studied the room, making slow, three-sixty, deliberate turns to take in every aspect. A bead of sweat trickled down her face as her stomach lurched. No, this was unlike any other prison she'd seen. She knew she wasn't dead, her acute senses and hammering pulse confirmed that much. But, where was she? This place was completely unfamiliar. It was not like the stark, practical settings she preferred. The room surrounding her was an explosion of excess, with clashing colors and shapes. Every surface was filled with bizarre objects like figurines or something resembling a child's toy. There were also images, not exactly like paintings but they were everywhere. She cautiously approached what appeared to be a seating area, her gaze drawn to a giant wall hanging covered with red paper streamers. The inscription read: Kung Hei Fat Choy! Her eyebrows furrowed. This cheerful message had no place in a prison or any other dismal, functional environment she could think of. What kind of place was this?Suddenly, her thoughts were disturbed by the sound of movement in another area of the house. She froze, ready to battle whatever unknown threat was coming towards her. Then a voice spoke out casually and unconcernedly from behind a nearby door."Sera, sorry, got distracted!"I watched the corridor with nervousness and a few seconds later, a man stepped into the room, holding two cups filled with some sort of red liquid. He smiled as if he recognized her, and she narrowed her eyes, keeping her body tense and alert. "Who are you?" she demanded, her voice a sharp, commanding tone. "What do you want with me?"The man chuckled before taking a step closer. His easygoing demeanor just added to her suspicions. His grin faded slightly as he observed her strained stance. "Everything okay, Sera?" he inquired, his tone mixed with anxiety."How dare you speak so informally to me," she snapped. "Who gave you such permission?"The man paused, his brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean?" He lifted the glasses. "You said you were in the mood for wine . . . and some food."Seraphina threw her palm outward, warning him off and invoking her magic. "Stay back!" A sudden, crushing sense of helplessness swept over her as she realized her magic was vanished. She tried again, but nothing occurred."Are you okay? Did you find some weed in my stash that you're acting like this? He chuckled as he laid the cups down on the table and walked towards her.Despite his concern, she didn't trust him at all. In this unknown place, she would have to consider every stranger an enemy, so she repeated her words again "Stay back!"The man stopped and raised his arms in surrender. His gaze softened, and concern was clear in his eyes. "Sera, you are acting as if you don't know me. Are you okay? His words only increased her lack of trust. This stranger had no right for questioning her. "I don't know you," she replied. "And I don't want to." She could tell that he was no use to him, even if he was not a threat. The man's concern began to turn to irritation. He sighed and ran a hand over his hair. "Either you smoked something while I was gone, or you're teasing me. Regardless, this isn't funny."His tone and casual approach got on her nerves. If she had magic she would turn him into a harmless tiny creature and squash him under her boot. Her gaze darted to a nearby object—a heavy, round ornament. Testing its weight, she smirked and threw it at the man. He barely dove in time for the item to soar over his shoulder and strike the wall behind him."What the hell, Sera?" he exclaimed, standing upright."Get out!" she shouted while grabbing another object, this time it was a square and wooden with an image in the middle. Her grip tightened as she aimed it at him and was about to throw it at the strange man."Fine!" the man barked, clearly fed up. He stalked toward the door, snatching a coat from a nearby hook. "There's something seriously wrong with you. I'm out."Seraphina stared intently as he slipped on peculiar-looking footwear and opened the door. Before leaving, he muttered under his breath, "Crazy bitch."well at least he was right about that. She stared at the door for a few seconds hoping that the strange man wouldn't come back. But as the door clicked shut, she set the object down on the desk and exhaled sharply. Slowly, she crossed the room to a window. There were long curtains that covered the window and she flunks them open and lets out a gasp. She was even more confused than she ever was.The sight outside froze her in place. It was nothing like the world she knew. Her eyes were looking everywhere, because nothing seemed real. Outside the window were odd contraptions that moved along a road but without horses"There's Magic here?" she murmured, her voice tinged with awe and apprehension. Then she looked up to see giant structures which overwhelmed her. Some were taller than others but they were the same and closer to each other These buildings were so tightly packed she couldn't imagine how anyone here breathed fresh air.Her gaze adjusted beyond the giant buildings, settling on the shimmering expanse of what she assumed was water. It seemed to be some kind of an island with dwellings so high it looked as though they touched the sky "How does such a world exist without my knowing?"This was too much for Seraphina. Her head throbbed as questions swirled. To think that she was taken to this unknown land and Jonathan who stabbed her in the chest. But she was alive. She stumbled back from the window, retreating to the desk. Papers and books lay scattered across its surface, one of them catches her eye. She flipped it open. It was some sort of a diary or some documentation of days and times. Someone had written in it and mostly were incomprehensible notes."Circle time?" she muttered, running her fingers over the writing.Apart from the books and papers, there were other pictures kept in wood squares, like the one she intended to toss at the man which had not seen previously, but upon closer inspection I discovered there was a face. It looked familiar. She grabs one of the tiles and held it up for closer examination. She lets out a gasp. "I don't understand . . ." One of the people in the picture looked just like her. No. It was her. She drops go of the frame, which landed on the desk. She pulled away, shaking her head."This has to be a punishment from the Concord Alliance.....it must be..."Suddenly, a rush of fatigue struck her, and she staggered backward, landing on one of the cushion seating choices. Her body and mind clearly needed rest. And her eyes became so heavy that I couldn't resist closing them, grateful for the little break. The sound of a loud banging woke her. She sat straight and tried to concentrate. It all came pouring back: she was not in the Echofall Mountain kingdom but instead she was in this horrible, bizarre world. There was a muffled voice from the other side of the door. This time, it was a lady. I stood and moved towards the door, then startled as the woman called out. "Sera! Open the door! It's Molly!"She hesitantly grabbed for the handle and pushed it open but just a little. On the other side stood a woman with pale skin and freckles on her brows. She looked me over and exclaimed, "Why haven't you answered any of my texts?!"She opens the door wider. The tiny woman did not appear to be a threat, so she did not fight her when she walked her and entered without an invitation. Seraphina couldn't understand why a stranger acted as if she knew her. Her thoughts turned to the pictures that she'd seen, the lady who resembled her. With a little black gadget or device in her hand, she marched to the center of the room. The gadget made a chiming sound, and the woman responded, "Hang on." She brushed her finger against what appeared to be a glass surface, then held the black item to her ear. "This is Molly. Yes... I'll get back to you on that." The woman slid the device into a bag and began speaking so fast and so incoherently that she had no clue what she was saying. She placed her hand on her hip and tilted her head to the side. "Are you listening to me, Sera?""I texted you like fifteen times. Why didn't you answer?""Answer what? You didn't ask me anything?""What?" She shakes her head. "What the heck happened to Daniel last night?" "That is what I texted you.""Texted?""Yes! You don't want to tell me?""Tell you what?""Come on Sera... I thought you liked him. You were the one who requested me to hook you up with him on a date in the first place.""Oh so you are the reason for that" she raised my brows at her, waiting for her to leave. Obviously, she was some commoner who would be of no use to herMolly moved closer, and Seraphina realized she was standing on some odd footwear with pointy stilts holding them up. "What the heck is going on with you, Sera?"I gazed at her before saying, "I have no information that I can give you." "Why do you sound like a Henry Fielding novel?" She inspected her entire body up and down. "Wait! Why aren't you dressed already?!" With her hand on Sera's back, she pushed her down a corridor and then through a doorway into a smaller room with a little bed and even more weird and colorful stuff. Seraphina glanced at the object and realized that whoever this sad Sera person was, she had bad taste. In fact she pities her. While Seraphina was soaking in the room's vibe, Molly was exploring what looked to be a small wardrobe closet. Perhaps she was a dressmaker or a maid? Molly threw a bright cloth at her, and shuddered as she caught it in her arms. "Here, put on this dress. Move it, girl. We cannot be late today!"In the bathroom chamber, Seraphina investigated the water supply, the things hidden behind the mirror, and the unusual bathtub. Because the tools here were similar to those in her own environment, it was easy to figure out what to use and how to utilize them. The outfit, on the other hand, clearly indicated that she had been chastised for being an evil dictator. She would look better as a jester than to look like what she was wearing. Looking in the mirror, she groaned. The material was soft and pleasant. However, it was covered with a ludicrous design of rainbows and little dogs. This infantile foolishness didn't make sense. But Seraphina preferred to dress in a way that conveyed intimidation. She was majestic, magnificent, commanding, and strong. Not... soft.I stepped out of the bathroom to find Molly waiting, staring at the device again."And where is the accompanying cape?" she asked her.Molly looked up and rolled her eyes. She then looked over at the bed before reaching down and grabbing another outfit. "Here's your cardigan, weirdo."Seraphina gave it a disdainful glance before putting the long ends around her neck in an attempt to recreate her signature appearance. Molly sighed. "Finally, let's go. Put your coat on. It is colder than Antarctica out there." She motioned to the wooden stand by the front entrance and began to lead her toward the door through which she had entered, but Seraphina had no idea what was ahead. In addition, she halted short because she was really hungry.Given that my stomach was crying out to me, she said, "You have bacon, eggs, and cheese in your bag?"Molly made a frown before digging her hand inside her purse. She took out a little circular, metal-looking object and held it out to me.Seraphina followed Molly out of the door. She was so enthralled by the prospect of eating that she didn't notice anything else. She peeled aside the plastic wrapping to find a heated sandwich, just as she had promised. Seraphina ate her sandwich while following Molly along a corridor with doors on each side. She was more curious than afraid, and wondered whether it was because of this incredible joy. She swallowed the bite in my mouth and paused. "Wait."Molly came to a halt a few steps ahead of her, swiveling her head left and right as if she had just noticed she wasn't alongside her. She turned. "What? "What is wrong?"I held up the sandwich. "This is the most greatest thing I've ever eaten.""Uhm.....okaaay . . ."As she took another bite, Molly frowned at me. "What's wrong with you today? You've had Edwards' bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll every day. You never modify your order, therefore it's the same"She took a step closer and looked at her strangely. "I'm not sure why you're acting as if you've never had this before. Did you hit your head or something?Seraphina shrugged. It may have been a possibility that she may banged my head. Maybe this was all an illusion of her imagination."First Roman, and now this?" Is there anything you aren't telling me, Sera?"Molly yelped, her gaze fixed on a metal band around her wrist. "Seriously, we do not have time to get into whatever crazy stuff is going on with you. We are going to be late" she raised her finger in my direction and moved it around in a circle Seraphina had no idea what she was late for. Perhaps there was a struggle ahead. Something that she could finally approve of. She considered asking, but decided against it. If she were imprisoned in the life of this Sera guy, asking a lot of questions would most certainly place her in a difficult scenario. Perhaps she would keep quiet and figure what the hell is going on and how she will reclaim her power. Once that happened, she was confident that she'd find a way to return to her world. Who knows what mayhem Jonathan is doing right now.As they were walking in the streets. Seraphina wonders in her mind about Molly. Is she also an enemy, waiting for her to provide Seraphina information before imprisoning her? Perhaps this meal offering was a trap. Well, it's too late for that. Seraphina stopped chewing and focused on the remaining scrap of sandwich in her hands. She shoved the last piece into her red lips, hoping for more soon.
