Synopsis

Ranks

Free Guild System

A revolutionary system created by Yuuki Kagurazaka that was quickly adopted worldwide for its ingenuity. It classifies monsters and other enemies considering various variables such as magic count, physical strength, defensive capabilities, speed, skills, and intelligence. Average classifications are usually given to an entire species, and additional reclassification is assigned to specific individuals based on special factors such as possession of equipment and arts.

Rank F: Classification assigned to those with little or no combat capability.

Rank E: Classification assigned to those with power equivalent to the average human adult.

Rank D: Classification assigned to those with power equivalent to that of a soldier, requiring a group of at least 3 or 4 average humans to defeat them.

Rank C: Classification assigned to those with power equivalent to or greater than that of an experienced soldier with professional training.

Rank B: Classification assigned to threats that have the potential to wipe out an entire village on their own.

Rank A: Classification assigned to threats that have the potential to severely damage an entire city, requiring the deployment of several high-ranking adventurers or a nation's knights to handle them.

Special Rank A: Classification assigned to threats that have the potential to destroy a small-sized nation, requiring the deployment of a nation's army or an individual of Champion class to defeat them.

Rank S: Classification assigned to Demon Lords (Demon Lord Seeds) and those of equivalent power, requiring the entire army of a large nation and the deployment of their Champions to defeat them.

Special Rank S: Classification assigned to threats that no nation could hope to face, such as true Demon Lords and true dragons. It is believed that such threats can only be addressed by the intervention of a chosen hero.

Tempest System

A system used internally by the government of Tempest and in the management of the Dungeon. It is a simplified version of the Free Guild system, which uses an objective numerical measurement of an individual's Existence Value (called Existence Points) to assign a classification and adjust the dungeon's difficulty accordingly.

Class E: Classification given to those with EP below 1000.

Class D: Classification given to those with EP between 1000 and 3000.

Class C: Classification given to those with EP between 3000 and 6000.

Class B: Classification given to those with EP between 6000 and 8000.

Class B+: Classification given to those with EP between 8000 and 9000.

Class A-: Classification given to those with EP between 9000 and 10000.

Class A: Classification given to those with EP between 10000 and 100000. Also known as A-Rank Over and is equivalent to the Hazard class.

Special Class A: Classification given to those with EP between 100000 and 400000. It is equivalent to the Calamity class.

Class S: Classification given to those with EP between 400000 and 800000. Equivalent to the Disaster class.

Special Class S: Classification given to those with EP above 800000.

Million Class (Super Awakened Class): General term used to refer to those with EP above 1000000.

Catastrophe Class: The only classification used by Tempest that is based on Combat Power rather than Existence Points, reserved only for those with transcendent power that begins to approach the realm of True Dragons.

Danger Level

The danger level is the oldest classification, separate from normal classifications, intended to classify the danger level of monsters and majins. Unlike the Free Guild classification system, it is classified by overall threat level and not just combat capabilities. Additionally, it is subject to inaccurate listings due to political interference, and the classifications of certain individuals are listed as a lower rank than their capabilities would suggest.

Hazard Class: Classification for threats that have enough power to destroy entire cities and require the mobilization of a nation's knights to defeat them. Equivalent to Rank A.

Calamity Class: Classification for threats that could wipe out an entire country, usually possessing several high-ranking Majin subordinates and holding considerable influence. Monsters of this class are also known as Calamity Monsters. Equivalent to Special Rank A.

Disaster Class: Classification reserved for Demon Lords, beings with enough power and influence to rival a large country, requiring a powerful nation like Englassia to stand a chance. The criteria for being placed here are strict, and individuals with sufficient power are often not classified here due to special factors and to avoid making the public think that Demon Lord level individuals are roaming the world freely without control. Equivalent to Rank S.

Catastrophe Class: Classification reserved for threats considered too great for any western nation to handle, requiring international cooperation beyond the framework of a single nation to have a chance at survival. This level is officially occupied only by True Dragons, but behind closed doors, there are rumors of true Demon Lords with enough power to erase entire countries from the map. Equivalent to Special Rank S.

I will base this work on the following power rankings, which I took from the Tensura wiki. I will mainly use the Tempest ranking because it establishes a minimum requirement to be in a certain rank, and the Free Guild ranking because it provides a good comparison of the damage an individual in each rank can cause and what is needed to stop them.

I will not use them explicitly within the work. Don't expect something like: "Finally, I have 1000 EP, I am now rank D." No, no, no. I will simply use them as a reference for myself to establish a limit on what the protagonist can do at certain times. For example, if I said the protagonist is rank F, meaning they are only equivalent to an average adult, how could they face a soldier head-on, when the soldier would be rank D and could handle three rank F individuals? That is simply ridiculous.
