Chapter 17 - Poisonous kiss

Chapter 17

Seraphina

Even though the little boys seemed shaken, he still refused to hand me the purse, was getting the money so important to him.

"If he wouldn't return it, why don't you pay us with your body little miss," one of the tugs said with a wide grin that exposed his dirty teeth, I turned away from the boy and raised my head to look at the thug who just spoke.

"What did you just say?" I asked, my tone dangerously low, I have been looking for a good enough reason to kill these people, and they just gave me one. A very good one infact.

"I said you should pay us with your body, you can...." The thug couldn't complete his sentence when he dropped to the floor with a thud, his eyes wide with horror as his blood pooled around his neck where he lay on the floor, and within seconds, he was out cold.

The others looked up at me, shock and shaken, unaware of what just happened. I had struck his neck so fast that they didn't even see my hand move.

"You want my body too?" I asked, my lips curling into a smirk as I glared at them, my eyes glowing purple. They didn't need other word from me to know that I wasn't someone ordinary. The turned and ran down the alley, leaving their friend who now lay dead on the floor.

I could feel the gaze of passerby boring into me, but I didn't care. They new better not to approach me. I turned back to look at the little boy from earlier, but he was already gone. I guess he got scared of me and ran.

I sighed and dusted my clothes, then continued walking into the crowd. I soon got to the tavern, an elderly woman was serving her customers as i walked in.

I found an empty table and sat, "Imelda, two bottles of the usual," i waved from my seat, she turned to look at me and a smile instantly plastered on her lips.

"Oh my goodness, sera, you came..." She exclaimed, she then turned to her daughter who stood behind her, "Mae, take care of the customer, aunt sera came to visit, I'll be right back," she then went inside to bring out my order, my favourite, fire fruit wine.

She came out moments later and joined me on the table were I sat, "it's been a while, I thought you retired from your job." Imelda said excitedly, pouring some wine inside a cup and handing it to me.

Wondering why she held me with such high regard, I saved her years ago when she was still a child, she is a human living here in the vampire kingdom, although years have past, she still believes she owes me her life.

Anytime I came to the vampire kingdom for a mission, I always stayed over at her place, she took care of me like I was her daughter, and respected me like i was her superior, she was an absolute angel.

"I'm actually off for now, you must have heard about the wedding that was held yesterday, between the vampire king and the witch princess," I asked, leaning closer and lowering my voice, Imelda nodded.

"Yes, that must mean your clan and the vampires have called a truce, no wonder I haven't seen you in a while,"

"Well actually, I am the bride," I admitted, and proceeded to sip from my cup of wine, but Imelda's eyes widened in horror,

"Are you saying, you are a princess?" She asked, surprised. I wouldn't blame her for being so shocked, I never revealed my identity, even after all these years of our friendship.

I nodded in reply to her question, "I have a favor to ask of you..." I said quietly, getting to business.

Her expression turned serious almost immediately as she payed attention to what I was about to say next, "I need that thing, I can't complete this mission without it." I said quietly,

"You have another mission?" She asked, I went on to explained my whole situation to her and how we only accepted this marriage just to get revenge,

"But you know it usually takes a toll on your body, are you really willing to take the riska? She asked, her eyes softening with worry.

I nodded, I was willing to go through any lengths to end this mission as soon as possible, I couldn't remain her any longer, if I did use this thing to kill Rhydian, it would take a toll on my body, which would also make me the least suspect.

"Alright, I'll give it to you, just be careful, and make sure to take the antidote prior to using it okay?"

The thing we were talking about was poison, a poisonous lipbalm to be specific, extremely fatal. I used it once, on a very powerful opponent, although then, I wasn't as experienced as now.

I didn't need it anymore because I grew stronger over time and could kill my opponents without much trouble, but now, I knew it would be impossible to kill Rhydian with just my raw strength.

He was a formidable opponent, a really strong one, I could sense his raw prowess every time I was near him, I knew he was a man with a lot of secrets, a man that must have gone through years of tough training to get to that point, and now, i was going to end that man with something as simple as a poisonous kiss.

Imelda stood up and headed inside, moments later, she came out with a sealed letter. She stretched it to me, the letter had a lotus flower carved on the seal.

"Give it to him, he'll give you what you want after reading this letter." She said, I collected the letter from her, my fingers then traced the flowers on the seal. Him, the man known as the best venom master of all time, Dorian Mace, Imelda's father.
