The night wind carried the sound of Xie Ling's anxious sobs as it swept by.
The little ghost girl stared quietly at the boy before her. Her pale eyes flickered slightly, and she finally muttered, "I'm not your little sister."
"You little brat, I'm older than you…"
As her voice trailed off, her ghostly figure vanished into the thin air.
On the small bridge, Xie Ling was leaning precariously over the edge, peering into the water below. Just as he was about to lose his balance and fall in, a pale, cold hand reached out and grabbed him.
Xie Ling stumbled backward, falling onto the ground. When he looked up and saw the little ghost girl who had appeared out of nowhere, he ignored the pain in his backside, scrambled to his feet, and threw himself at her, wrapping her in a tight hug.
"Wh-Wh… Little sister…" he sobbed, his words barely coherent.
